"Bane"(In his BEST PeterBrady impression): "'Sup Bat-Bitch? Ready for yo' beat-down??"
Batman: "Heh. Alfred, contingency plan Alpha-Alpha-Seven-Six."

Re: Tom Hardy To Play" Bane" In Batman Sequel
Why is it that when mini-Bane gives beaten-down Bruce Wayne his little "I give you permission to die" speech that I get the impression that it's a ripoff of James Bond?
Note that just after the one minute mark Goldfinger states, "No Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!"
Now compare it to this:
And it doesn't help either that both characters have accents but sound like they're saying pretty much the same thing to their seemingly 'helpless' victim. Anyone else notice this? I actually noticed it the first time I ever saw that trailer but just haven't made the effort to point it out. However, with this ongoing crapola of a character development, now is as good a time as any.

I guess I just chalked it up to Generic Movie Villain Dialogue and didn't pay it too much attention beyond that. Nolan's Batman movies are full of lame ass one-liners that plague so many other movies that cliches like the Bane thing almost seem like the tip of the iceberg.

This pic is what will make it virtually impossible for me to buy Hardly as "Bane":
Check out the dude to the left and behind Hardly. On his knees, he is almost up to his SHOULDER.
I know, I know. But still......

Hardly actually does have a look of fear in his eyes in that last pic. Must've seen another right cross coming.

Nolan is a Bond fan, you can find tons of references to Bond flicks in the other Batman titles. Growing up with Bond and Indiana Jones was the reason he took on Batman because he wanted to make his own blockbusters.

Casting blunders aside, I have no real issue with Nolan himself. His "It HAS to be REALISTIC" mantra is frustrating at times, and forgotten at others, but I've enjoyed his films. 'The Prestige'. 'Inception'. "batman Begins' and "The Dark Knight'. Seen and own them all.
But his troglodyte little Nolanites and Tom Hardly's "Bane" have made me look forward to the inevitable reboot, and a new take on the character.

Fuck the Nolanites.
I do find Nolan to be a really odd guy though. He talks about trying to work Catwoman in a realistic light, but he doesn't bat an eye when it comes to a flying car.

Or a guy using a magic fabric that lets him "fly", even though it is cut into a "bat wing" shape. You know, destroying the integrity?
Like I said, he ignores his mantra when it's convenient.

Remember, they just had a private screening for what, about 50 film critics & what-not? 'Bane' steals the show just like the HULK did in THE AVENGERS. Remember duh critics after all. That jack-off who said, "TDKR: 9.0, Spidey 7.5 & Avengers 8.5."
Man! I can hardly wait!

Sad as it is, this point only occurred to me a few days ago. If you buy into the proposition that he could use that fabric to glide around, the scallops in the thing probably wouldn't help much.Apologist Puncher wrote:Or a guy using a magic fabric that lets him "fly", even though it is cut into a "bat wing" shape. Of course, with nothing to support his torso when he glides, there's really no reason why he wouldn't be gliding while "standing" other than how silly that would look. But, hey, it at least is realistic, right???
