Ya i still plan to see the film myself. But it does blow he isnt the best he could be for bane. Sure like i said back a page he probably will give a good performance in the role and do well in the film. Its just like ap has said he isnt truly bane character/looks. Hell it would have been nicer if either they went with some body suit to make him look even taller/buffer ie like jurrernaut outfit from x3, or motion cap suit they could replace in post with him getting huge.

Nolan doesn't believe in that. I think.

Now I'm curious about something:
If "Bane" gets some sort of anesthetic from that mask, and it BARELY puts it below the tolerance point, wouldn't ANY physical trauma tip the balance?
Like, say, punches and kicks from Batman?
How effective can he be as a villain if he should be incapacitated pretty easily?
With new images and even the first tv spot popping up, it shouldn't be long before promotion for Christopher Nolan's Batman threequel hits full kilter. For now though, here's a new scanned image of Tom Hardy as grumpy ol Bane, doing that thumbs-hooked-in-armor thing he seems to enjoy so much. Also, as you can gather from the txt accompanying the image, Nolan reveals a few more tidbits about the character. He confirms that the mask her wears is not breathing apparatus, but a means for him to receive a constant supply of anesthetic to keep some terrible pain at bay. He also comments on not wanting to compete with the late Heath Ledger's Joker - ”We didn’t want to compete with Heath. We wanted more of a monster – Bane’s the man who physically breaks Batman. It’s an irresistible force versus an immovable object.”..

You mean like how Harvey shouldn't have been able to stay conscious from the pain of having his face burned off?Apologist Puncher wrote:Now I'm curious about something:

That whole thing does sound stupid. What's the point in mask then if its just for a pain reducer and all that.

Yeah, that really captures 'the spirit & essence of the character', i.e., 'Bane', does it not?

And it's even funnier to know that LaBeouf got the best of Hardy in a real fight.

But in TDKR Hardly is probably gonna be depicted as some unstoppable killing machine! I'm sure you've seen all of the trailers? What gets me is how much of a weakling Bruce Wayne is portrayed as being in those trailers. At Mini-Bane's mercy. Asking why mini-Bane didn't just go ahead & kill him?! Does that sound like Batman to you?! Sure, Bane may have broken Batman in the comics but even then I don't believe he was the whimpering pathetic wimp that Bruce Wayne seems to be portrayed as in this film. It's like Alfred has to rescue him. Again! But what am I venting about anyway? Lest I forget, this is Nolan that we're talking about.

Re: Tom Hardy To Play" Bane" In Batman Sequel
From all accounts (not least of which was Hardy's own), it apparently wasn't even competitive. LaBeouf basically smacked him two or three times, knocked him out and that was the end of the fight -- such as it was. Now, anybody can talk smack and sound tough as hell on the Internet but I'd like to think most people would be able to get at least one decent punch in there, even if they end up losing the fight, esp against a "contender" like LaBeouf (whom I've got nothing against, btw).Apologist Puncher wrote:And it's even funnier to know that LaBeouf got the best of Hardy in a real fight.
So what the hell happened?!
Bingo. Casting Hardy as Bane makes Batman look weak since I assume he gets bested (somehow) by Hardly Bane at some point or another. The Batman we saw in TDK could handle pretty much anybody, one at a time or in groups. Losing a dwarf with an attitude... ugh...non_amos wrote:But in TDKR Hardly is probably gonna be depicted as some unstoppable killing machine! I'm sure you've seen all of the trailers? To be fair, I could see Batman asking that if he ever got tromped in a fight. "Uh, you had me on the ropes. Why didn't you kill me???" I could picture that. Not a stretch. Batman is a detective. He asks questions. The imperative issue remains convincing me that the same guy who beat the snot out of however many ninjas in BB and several armed mobsters in TDK could ever lose out to Tom freakin Hardy. Forgive me if I don't think Nolan's up to the task.non_amos wrote:At Mini-Bane's mercy. Asking why mini-Bane didn't just go ahead & kill him?! Does that sound like Batman to you?!
