non_amos wrote:Ya know, I'd like to ask ONE SIMPLE QUESTION about the use of imagery used to 'shadow' Tom Welling & his impending transformation to Superman. We know they're using Singerman imagery WAY too much for realists' tastes. SO..........MY question is, IF they're gonna use such imagery, then why don't they use CHRISTOPHER REEVE IMAGERY?! Certainly they could take HIS poses from various media back in the day & DO THE SAME THING?! I'd find THAT much more appealing in this kind of situation. It would be an homage of sorts to Reeve & I don't THINK it would offend anyone either. Thoughts?
I have to agree here with the "amos". Tell me THIS picture wouldn't have looked better behind Welling:
Or how about this one:
It's pure laziness, and an affront to any TRUE Superman fan for them to use the BJ Routh bullshit REPEATEDLY.

There's a sense in which it almost doesn't matter if it looks better. The Reeve one is more iconic. Even if the perspective and the pose don't quite match up, it's still iconically Superman... and isn't that the bigger issue here?Apologist Puncher wrote:I have to agree here with the "amos". The more I think about it, the more I have to assume they could've used Kirk Alyn for all the difference it would make. Just no more BJ Blandon.

Much better. Perhaps too good. That may have been the fear, but I'm probably giving the publicity folk too much credit, don't forget I'm the one who raised the whole "cut & paste" mentality so prevalent in television especially these days.
Check my posting history, when it comes to movie superheroes it's Reeve as Superman first and daylight second, but that's not the point in this instance. We're trying to sell WELLING as Superman here, not as another one trying to ride on Reeve's cape tail like last time. Honor Reeve's legacy with respect by not trading on it to sell a new Superman. That was a low that Singer stooped to, and is best forgotten.
And also don't forget that Smallville already "broke it" by incorporating the Singerman costume into the show (and if you want to get technical, incorporated Reeve into the show as Dr. Swann). Seeing the Singerman wet suit was when the damage was done, IMHO. All this probably just follows along with that mentality, whether we actually get a new costume or not for the finale.
The only joy I can draw from this is that Ruth is OFICIALLY no longer connected to anything Superman. Even his goofy outfit has outlived him!
Now that IS funny!

What's next for the Smallville superheroes after passing out at Hawkman's funeral?
NATALIE: Things will not be what they seem once the supes wake up. "They created an alternate reality for these characters and they don't know which is the real one and which isn't," Erica Durance tells us. "It's mainly around Clark figuring out what world he's in and which is the right one. That introduces Chloe back in the whole mishmash, and she ends up actually being a bit of a nemesis to Lois."

Here's your big Small scoop: I'm hearing ****** **** is coming to town!
Question: Any Smallville scoop on the arrival of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle?
Ausiello: Just that the show is still casting the parts. For egomaniacal Booster, they want… well, in essence, another Justin Hartley (Green Arrow): blond and hot, although he has to radiate smarm. (Think Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer.) For Blue Beetle - or Iron Man, if Iron Man became a superhero because a scarab possessed him - they want a nerdy Latino actor who can pass for a teenager. (Ugly Betty's Justin, Mark Indelicato, perhaps?)

Appearing in the episode will be High School Musical's Lucas Grabeel, who will also be appearing in the show's Feb. 4 episode, "Beacon." He first originated the role of Alexander/Young Lex in the Season 6 episode "Reunion," and he will be playing the aged Lex clone here.

Let's not kid ourselves, the Apologists will still piss and moan that this is a "filler" episode. Of course, considering what their favorite movie is, I don't think I want to hear them criticizing anybody's writing.

Haha ya they will. But really for me this season I haven't thought of any episode as a filler. Since something key has happened in all the episodes.

Re: 10.21-22, Finale (spoilers)
The Younis page is reporting that Laura Vandervoort is coming back for at least one more episode. It's from an anonymous source. If anyone else posted it, I'd be instantly skeptical but Barry Frieman is a cool guy, one of the (very) few straight shooters the Younis page has.
Mind you, some of the Apologists are already having problems with the idea. I guess I can understand that. I mean, Laura Vandervoort's not much to look at. I can see where her long blonde hair, blue doe eyes, tiny nose, perky tits, tight ass, flat stomach, toned thighs and skimpy outfits would make anybody sick. Cripes, I feel like I'll hurl just describing the nightmare.
Oh wait!
Idiots...

One of the few STRAIGHT shooters? Barry Frieman is openly GAY. He says so himself even at duh Homopage. However, IF you're talking about his reporting, I can see your point. I mean, he's NOT Eunuch or Herr Bailey waiting to ban you for life or like swrighty to 'go with the flow'. Case in point about Eunuch. You see a couple of people over there getting in a heated debate, lone realist vs. apologists galore. Someone 'crosses the line'. Refresh the page at some point & you see that EUNUCH has stepped in with his threats of bans. Why? Because he CAN! So with the rhetoric that goes on over there, I suppose Frieman is one of the FEW voices of reason. I mean, I think we ALL know that Freddie Mercury was gay but QUEEN is one of my all-time favorite bands! Rob Halford of JUDAS PRIEST also 'came out' years ago but Priest is also a great band. I guess it's just the music man! So I guess then that Frieman can be a good reporter.

Didn't even think about that until after I posted that. Oh well.non_amos wrote:One of the few STRAIGHT shooters?
I don't know anything about either of those bands but I'm not surprised you can enjoy them. The fact of someone being gay has probably never turned ANYbody on this forum against something. That's something the willfully-delusional, politically correct, douchebag Apologists ALWAYS miss. "Homophobic!!!" Just like any good leftie, suppressing that free speech. They'll make good czars someday. So with the rhetoric that goes on over there, I suppose Frieman is one of the FEW voices of reason. No, what we all take issue with, as far as the gay element goes, is how it influences the finished product. The various and sundry gay cast and crew members of SV all seemed to recognize that Superman isn't about sexual politics, it's about adventure and heroism. That's why you've never seen anybody bash on SV because of the gay people in front and behind of the camera. It's a non-issue with SV.
But Singerman? Well, that speaks for itself.

I was just reading the news about laura would be nice if she is indeed back once more. She did say when supergirl was filming/coming out if scheduling permitting she love to return once more before the season wraps. If she back can't wait to see her one more time.
