Re: We Need Some Movie News
Jim adds, "I will not provide any additional information, or reveal the actor's identity, before the movie's premiere on June 14, 2013. Why ruin the surprise? Suffice to say that you should be pleased."
Well I think we can rule out anyone from Singerman then. I mean, he did say we'd be pleased, right? So I don't think we'd be too pleased to see the Fivehead or anything like that. I also don't think Snyder & Nolan would be dumb enough to pick anyone from that steaming pile either. But if they had to pick anyone from it, why not BJ the Bartender? Humor me on this. In MOS Lois is known to be seen at some restaurant or diner or something, right? Well (I think you know where I'm going with this), BJ in his little hat & uniform asks her, "Do you want fries with that?" Or you could have him as a bartender or even working in the bowling alley. Duh apologists would certainly be pleased that he even made it into the film at all & us realists would get a good laugh! & ol' Routhman himself would take the role because after all, Ruth gotta eat.
To be more realistic though, I think it'll be someone either from SMALLVILLE, LOIS & CLARK or possibly a key clue they gave us, SUPERMAN 2, THE RICHARD DONNER CUT. Note that they said from 2006 but didn't even mention SINGERMAN PEEPS. But why the Donner Cut? Who is different in that that maybe doesn't appear in the Lester version? I don't really know without watching it again. I think we can rule out Gene Hackman because I'm sure he'd come with a price tag. Now OTOH I'm sure that either Terrance Stamp, Sarah Douglas or Jack O'Halloran would be more than willing to do a cameo & I think at least some of them have expressed interest in this in the past couple of years since this project started. And remember, Stamp's voice was even used on SV for Jor-el. So any of those three I can see doing it, almost for free even, just to be in the film. I don't think it'll be the ghost of Marlon Brando though. I think that's worn out it's welcome. But what if they did Reeve like that? Sure, that would please a lot of us because we loved his take but..........it also doesn't completely distance this franchise from the memory of that one which I don't really think is a good idea. So out of the Reeve films I'd pick the Phantom Zone actors as the most likely candidates but Margot Kidder would probably be game too.
But why can't I shake the feeling of it being from either Smallville or Lois & Clark? Now, a Tom Welling appearance would no doubt bring a standing ovation from some fans! Or even Michael Rosenbaum. Likewise an appearance from Dean Cain or Terri Hatcher would also get a response from the crowd. I can tell you who it won't be.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
I just over heard that Mattel will be releasing MOS toys and they'll be on the shelves in April, but in meantime here are some preview photos that Mattel was trying to remove online...
Also I like to know why the crease patterns & wrist cuffs are blended with the main color of the suit considering that there sole purpose is to break up the blue just as the trunks were meant to?

Re: We Need Some Movie News
Personally, I doubt it'll be anybody from SV. I don't think I want anybody from SV in it either because the Apologists would never let SV fans live it down ("the SV folks passed the baton... not that they ever really had it but whatever"). If Routh fell ass-backwards into a cameo role, they would find a way to view it as a tribute to Singerman ("Snyder wanted to at least acknowledge the epic awesomeness of Singerman's kickassitude!").
Call me cynical but I worry that it'll be yet another fucking Donnerverse tribute.

Maybe you're right about Smallville. For duh apologists it'd be like, "Well, Welling is in the film but he's not Clark/Superman! NAH-NAH-N-NAH-NAH!" But like you say, if it was BJ instead then they'd find a way to make a complete 180 out of it. What hypocrisy. But I could see Michael Rosenbaum doing it. If those 'leaks' are true, then it stated that Lex is mentioned twice in the film but not shown. But is that really true? IMHO Rosenbaum is the most awesome-est version of Luthor ever. But he supposedly left that behind too. But his career ain't exactly going anywhere fast either is it? So what if they've recruited him for the sequel? I mean, Lex Luthor has to be in Superman's universe. That's a given. Even if Bryan Singer blew it Lex still has to be there. Yet fans get tired of Luthor, right? Or do they? Fans get tired of campy Lex. However, the opposite seemed to be true of Rosenbaum's version. So maybe what the new film series needs is a version that fans like, namely Rosenbaum. Sure, I know, it wouldn't be strictly the same version he did on SV since this is a different continuity but remember, this film does seem to be heavily influenced by SV anyway. So I could see Mike doing a similar but different take. Corporate Lex but without the trappings of SV's continuity. It could also work because not everyone has even see SV. I have a feeling they will see MOS. And Lex could play into this entire military/political/alien scenario especially if done correctly. And it could all be teased by a brief glimpse at the end.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
Of all SV alumni, you're right, it makes the most sense for Rosenbaum to come back. And yeah, he pretty much is top dog. And Gene Hackman is an Academy Award winner so to be better than him is a hell of a statement.non_amos wrote:But I could see Michael Rosenbaum doing it. Not saying I think he will. No offense but I suspect he won't. And I got the idea that whoever does the cameo appearance is strictly a movie person... but the description carefully leaves out any chance of it being anybody from Singerman. There's something to be said for small victories like that.

Gee, uh, I dunno. Which one?
Surely I jest. About the only thing 'right' on duh Singerman outfit is the blue color. I actually like that shade for Superman, probably because CHRISTOPHER REEVE wore a similar color. The shade of blue that Cavill is wearing reminds me more of Dean Cain. And I guess we can rule out the trunks, in post or not. This pic pretty much confirms the direction they're going. I guess we'll have to give up on wishful thinking.

This is kind of like comparing a photo of a trainee before & after gaining muscle, you just know which one of them is an improvement!

Re: We Need Some Movie News
How is all of this (empire article, Lois pic, toy pics) non-news? Maybe my definition of news is different. Well, here's some more toy and merchandise stuff:
Zod:
Jor-El:
Metropolis Showdown (a scene from the film) in lego form:
And Cavill as Supes on some table party merchandise packaging:

Here is the entire Empire article if anyone hasn't seen it yet:

Routh NEVER looked like Superman to me. At no point in or out of the movie (he actually looks worse in the film itself than outside of it). Simply doesn't have the jawline or the facial features of any half decent Superman I know of. Not to mention zero presence or charisma but that's a whole other thing already. Cavill on the other hand looks like a dead ringer for quite a few great Supermen from Curt Swan to Jim Lee, however improbable that sounds.
Looks pretty identical to me. And nearly indentical to most of these below:
Pretty much perfect casting looks wise. Cavill can also pull of kind, heroic or badass without a sweat and very convincingly, unlike Routh who has charisma of a wet poodle and a presence of a mailbox. No offense to poodles and mailboxes of course!

Um, maybe is because Non-News means nothing that concerns with the film in general or this thread is about anything else that doesn't involve interviews with the cast/staff, spoilers, trailers/TV spots, possible deleted scenes, website updates or studio announcements such as sequel plans, release date change & IMAX experience.
Just sayin!!!

Ok, you want to make a big deal out of this, fine. How are new (first) stills of Zod, Jor-El, Lois and a cover issue with Cavill which YOU posted NOT movie related news? How does that not concer the film? It's more news than your so called website updates or release dates. You know, I rarely say this, but you're an idiot.

For the record I didn't start this thread just incase you haven't figure that one out! Also merchandising & advertisement isn't exactly news related, so I suggest you put that in your pipe smoke it!

I honestly don't know if this has been posted yet. Hell, I don't even know how well known this is or, for that matter, where the hell this pic even comes from. But I found this on the Smallville Wikia site and thought you guys might want to see it.

That's the first time I've ever seen it. It certainly hasn't been posted at SHH that I'm aware of & I haven't checked duh Homopage yet. To tell you the truth I'm surprised it's even been released at all considering the secrecy surrounding this project. Now that it has I wonder how long it takes these other sites to catch up?
The pic also confirms once again that Lois' hair will be red in this film. Not that that is a problem. Please ( insert name here) don't start posting pics from the 50's TV series of Lois with red hair. I already know that. But it does break the stereotypical image of Lois, just like Perry White being black does also. And who knows, Jimmy Olsen being 'Jenny' instead? So when they say 'not your father's Superman' they really mean it. As long as Snyder delivers on the action though I'll be happy.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
If they really did decide to have Lois as a redhead, although I still see her as more of a brunette then how would Lana Lang be portrayed if by any chance she appears during Clark's child/teenhood years or anytime at all through out the film?

But remember on SMALLVILLE Lana was a brunette played by someone half-Asian so go figure.

It's a screen-cap from the trailer. You see Lois kissing Superman really quick.
