thecolorsblend wrote:I like the design and style of the chest emblem but it looks embossed. Will someone PLEASE explain the fascination people have with that? It looked retarded in Singerman and it's not like much has changed since then.
Keep in mind, I posted it for the LOOK, not necessarily for the materials. A "Reeve-style" symbol is preferable to me too.
Like I said previously, if they do something like this it allows them to say "See, it's not the same!" while not changing anything at all.

No doubt, I just chose that moment to rant about embossed emblems. You and I agree about that look. I really like that design of the chest emblem. Apart from it being embossed, I wouldn't change a thing.Apologist Puncher wrote:thecolorsblend wrote:I like the design and style of the chest emblem but it looks embossed. That's the smart move, if you ask me.Like I said previously, if they do something like this it allows them to say "See, it's not the same!" while not changing anything at all.

I hear you, and I think the 'Spider-Man' films are to blame. The people saw it and said "Hey, it worked for Spidey, why not Superman too??". Only Spider-Man's "spider" is nowhere NEAR the same level in iconic-ness as Superman's "S".
That's the smart move, if you ask me.
The ONLY move, as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Suit Suggestions
Don't forget Batman also had a embossed symbol on his chest practically in every live action film that was made the Nolan films including, so those same people also must have thought if it work for Bats it'll probably work the same for Supes.

Embossed or not, it's hard to imagine Peter having the skills to put the Spidey costume together without it looking like that Human-Spider thing he wore to wrestle Bonesaw McGraw.道 wrote:...and to be honest, I hated the raised webbing on Maguire's Spidey costume, too. It's funny that they completely IGNORE how he got or made that costume.

Stuart Immonen ROCKS!
He was at his best in 'Secret Identity':

Re: Suit Suggestions
NICE. Judging by the long hair, you pulled that shot from the Final Night storyline, I'm guessing? Used to own that trade. Great art. Mediocre story. Immonen is kind of the Jeff Beck of comics... you know, a master of all styles. He's an out-and-out god.thecolorsblend wrote:As for Superman...

That suit is damn near perfect (minus the long hair, of course). The S is the right size. The colors are spot-on. The muscles are sleek and powerful without being Hulked out... If they were to go with something like that, I don't think anyone could complain.

Nah, Adventures of Superman, somewhere in the 520's or 530's. That same basic vintage though.道 wrote:NICE. Judging by the long hair, you pulled that shot from the Final Night storyline, I'm guessing? Well, I'm sure some Apologists would have a few things to say but basically yeah that's how The Suit ought to look. That suit is damn near perfect (minus the long hair, of course). Karl Kesel wrote it as I recall. I expect you've read some of his Superman stories already?道 wrote:Huh. Who wrote that run? I still prefer Bogdanove myself:
Why don't they bring him back on one of the Superman titles?

Can't remember if I ever gushed about it but apart from having a kickass line style, Bogdanove was a MASTER of the layout. Any nitwit can draw a cool pin up but it takes TALENT and VISION to to draw a page where the visuals actually CONTRIBUTE to the story being told. But Jon Bog knew his craft. He was GOOD, no doubts there.

They need to put him on one of the books.

Not only that, but the guy could do covers too. They were amazing:

He did. Co-creator, if I'm not mistaken. But this was before that retarded Connor/Kon-El shit.道 wrote:Think so. He did a run on the Kon-El Superboy, yeah?
I was never enthused about his versions of Batman, Booster Gold and other characters. Jon Bog got Superman but, at a minimum, he would've needed a LOT of practice on the other characters.道 wrote:He deserved to be a JLA penciller. Re: Suit Suggestions
I say that Bog would've been good on JLA because Howard Porter was on it during Bog's run on Superman, and Porter... doesn't always have the best figure illustration or the best layouts. I'd have enjoyed seeing how Bog handled, say, JLA World War III.

Re: Suit Suggestions
Here's my third suggestion for what the super suit should look like although I'm not sure if any of you would like this suggestion alot more than my previous two but you probably might since it's not too fancy and it actuall has Henry Cavill in it...
If they going to have Martha Kent design Clark's suit for him just as she did in the comics then it'll have to look like something that wouldn't be made by a professional costume designer or would cost a hefty amount of money to make out of and I believe this serves as an example of what it could look like if they decide to take that route!
