Nah, they HAVE to have something beyond footage at SDCC. A poster is the easiest thing.
And I have a feeling the Bros. Warner, in their finite wisdom, are thinking they are getting the fanbase "clamoring" for MOS stuff by holding out like this. Kind of like withholding crack from an addict. But they don't seem to comprehend that they are actually pissing the fanbase off, and it can actually BACKFIRE.
If the presentation at SDCC DOESN'T "steal" the whole weekend, I foresee bad things ahead for 'Man Of Steel'.....

They also know that even though the fanbase will act pissy over the non-poster reveal, once they reveal the poster most of those fans' attitude will change to excitement and forget about how long it took.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
No poster yet, but at least they were kind enough to confirm the presentation on the official MOS FB page.
Speaking of FB, I was browsing Legendary's site and noticed something disturbing. Among their likes was a Superman Return page. So I go and see that WB opened the page this January.
You would think that they would try to make everyone forget about that POS and draw attention to MOS, but no, they open a FB page for that POS, even before opening one for MOS. And SR got over 200k likes in the 3 more months that it has been opened, compared to the MOS page.
Ah well. Let's see what Saturday brings. If they drop the ball at the SDCC, Im probably going to retire from following MOS until next year.

Your image isn't working, but going by the url text, I'll just say: No, I am right. Fans (most of them) of big franchises like this have short term memory when it comes to things like a lack of poster. J.J. Abrams withheld a lot of shit concerning STAR TREK that no one knew what it was gonna look like until the theatrical trailer was released without fanfare. Lots of fans were pissy about this mystery box approach, I was one of them. I still hate the mystery box bullshit (he's doing it again for STAR TREK 2, not even bothering to reveal who the villain is which is probably the dumbest thing ever because everyone will know before they walk in theaters, so what's the point?!), but I know that in the end it doesn't matter. Nobody bitches to this day about STAR TREK's marketing, but that probably is because there's more substantial stuff to bitch about in the film itself.

They still have DVD and blu-rays to sell. WB never gives up on their flicks, no matter how crummy. They gave BATMAN & ROBIN a two-disc special edition release!

No, don't even....argh...don't say that! Don't jinx it man. MOS should be at least good with the director, cast and the various superb crew (editors, vfx companies) working on it. The only thing that could wreck it is stupid story elements or characterizations but I trust Snyder took care of those issues. I trust the guy and I doubt HE'LL let me down on MOS.

This is true. I keep hoping that Snyder took care of any strange bullshit with his writer (Kurt Johnstad). Or that Goyer actually stuck his head into the comics and didn't use any of his own bullshit ideas. That could kill MOS for me. But still, It will probably at least have a few redeeming qualities. Like good action, visuals and performances. Unlike SR. Im betting Shannon's performance alone will make this much more watchable than the entire Singerman Peeps disaster. Though I certainly won't be making any apologies for MOS. I give due to what deserves it and chop down anything that stinks.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
Oh, and a Legendary Entertainment press release from today states what we can expect in their booth at the SDCC. They will be bringing some artwork for MOS. This is of course separate from the Hall H presentation and only applies to Legendary's booth. Though I don't know if we can expect to see this artwork online, I am not that informed of how things usually work at the Con.
Re: We Need Some Movie News
Personally I hope that they get their act together on MOS. The last thing I want to see with this reboot is for it to be ripped to shreds by duh apologists. Consider this. It's duh apologists who've been clamoring for 'no more underwear' as they put it. Of course they mean 'no more trunks'. But let's say that duh brothers Warner do drop the ball on this thing, marketing & everything, hoping that it will somehow all 'come out in the wash'. But then it backfires on them. So here's my point about duh apologists. They were the primary ones wanting 'no trunks' but if the film fails, I bet they'll be the first ones to say something like, "Look how silly Cavill looks without the trunks!" Hypocritical? You bet! But I wouldn't put it past them. But here's hoping for the best for MOS.

Fixed the pic issue.
Here's the problem with your theory:
It's 2012. This is the era of INSTANT BITCHING.
Oh, and, this isn't a case of "Oh, they aren't telling us EVERYTHING so I'm mad ". It's a case of "This film has been in the can for 6 MONTHS now, and we have seen exactly Jack & Shit". After the Singerman debacle, this is NOT a wise move.
To go back to my crack-addict analogy, think of it this way: When you have someone you want to get hooked on your product, you give them a little taste here. A taste there. Get them JONESING for your product so that when the time comes, they are yours no matter WHAT the price. You DON'T withhold your shit, dangling it in front of their faces for a year and a half, and then expect them to be there when YOU decide they get some.
They'll find another dealer.
Like Marvel's 'Iron Man 3'.....

Re: We Need Some Movie News
Wasn't the original DVD pretty in depth? It's hard to imagine what other bonus shit you could throw in to give it collector appeal. Allz I can think of are a Singer commentary (and seriously, who the hell wants to listen to that??) and a different cut of the movie (wtf is the tag line supposed to be? "If you thought it was dogshit before, just wait until you see the extended edition!").Apologist Puncher wrote:I dread seeing new versions of Singerman Peeps on store shelves next summer...
Neither are free (and in the case of the extended cut, it'd actually be pretty expensive) and, in the end, would only serve to highlight everything WB is trying to break away from.
I'm not saying it's impossible but between the dearth of new material to offer, the lack of interest inherent in the ideas I was able to come up with and the sheer redundancy of the thing, I honestly can't imagine who a Singerman special edition release is intended to appeal to.

Movie companies ALWAYS repackage and re-sale the previous film. It's been 6 years since they last mass-produced those little abominations, and they hope to squeeze out a few more dollars piggy-backing on 'Man Of Steel'.
It'll happen.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
STAR TREK went through exactly the same thing. It was all filmed in 2007 with a Christmas 2008 release date set. By the time everything was well in the can Paramount decided to push it back for a May 2009 release and make it one of their summer tentpole films. Here's the crazy thing, no trailer with footage from the actual flick was ever released until November 2008. Imagine having to wait November 2012 just to see any footage of MOS! And yet the reboot seemed to work out just fine for STAR TREK. Assuming WB plays their cards right like Paramount, this is not going to hurt MAN OF STEEL.Apologist Puncher wrote:Here's the problem with your theory:

Besides disgruntled fans, does anyone even remember SR? When I went to a screening of TED a lot of people in the audience didn't know how to react to that Brandon Routh rant because most of them have either not seen it or completely forgot about it. "Man of Steel": before "The Dark Knight Rises" images! Tuesday, July 10, 2012 -News - filming
The teaser of "Man of Steel", the new Superman version Zack Snyder, will be unveiled in the rooms of the hexagon as early as July 25 before "The Dark Knight Rises". And only in this way!
To see the first images of the Man of Steel in Zack Snyder, need to go see The Dark Knight Rises in theaters! And only in this way, because images are not broadcast on the net in the wake. Unlike what we have announced by mistake, the teaser is not only visible in the United States, but also in French classrooms. The two blockbusters Warner producer Christopher Nolan has opted for the launch of these images in classrooms to give priority to the fans and to thank them. Dark Knight Rises released in France July 25, 2012, while the Man of Steel output is provided for current 2013.

MAN OF STEEL And OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL Teaser Trailers Classified
Finally! We already know that the first teaser trailer for Sam Raimi's Oz The Great and Powerful will debut tomorrow, but those rumors of a Man of Steel trailer being attached to The Dark Knight Rises now appear to be confirmed. Read on for details. Josh Wilding - 7/11/2012
The ever-reliable Alberta Film Ratings have revealed an updated list of classified film trailers and as you can see below, we have some VERY exciting news. Seen it? Yeah, you're not even reading this at this point, are you?! Exciting stuff indeed. Regardless, when exactly this teaser will debut remains unknown at this point (those of you lucky enough to be at this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con will more than likely get to see it at the Hall H panel) but you can guarantee that it will be playing before The Dark Knight Rises next Friday.
1:27 is a pretty short, so here's hoping we'll actually get some footage from the film rather than just the logo and a voiceover! Either way, it will be a real treat to see ANYTHING from Man of Steel at this point. What are you guys most looking forward to seeing? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

Uh, then it's NOT the same thing. At all.
'Man Of Steel' originally had a December release date. WB, in their infinite wisdom, decided to NOT have it compete against one of their own pictures. So they pushed it to June of '13 BEFORE they started shooting. Not after it was filmed. So for a studio to decide to hold back on showing things AFTER the film was shot and date was changed is different from a movie with a FIRM release date being shot and in the can with exactly TWO "official" releases in almost a year. Doesn't make sense.
I also noticed you ignored my addict theory. Interesting....

Unfortunately yes. And with the lack of news driving REAL Superman fans into having nothing to talk about, their "voice" seems to sound louder than it TRULY is.
This is ALSO a bad thing.

Stopped reading here:
Bryan Singer's 2006 attempt at a reboot, Superman Returns, while far better than any of the Reeve sequels, isn't a good Superman movie, either. Rather, it's a well-meaning attempt at making a Donner Superman.
Anyone with the Downs Syndrome enough to say something like that isn't worth reading.

UPDATE!
Just received an email from Warner Brothers and IMAX, stating the following:Hi there!
I wanted to let you know that IMAX had made an inputting error regarding Man of Steel on their site and the film is not being converted to 3D.
So there you have it. MAN OF STEEL will be in IMAX, but not IMAX 3D. Is it the Mighty Hand Of Nolan after all? Whoever's responsible, I'm thankful. I don't mind 3D, but I'm not the biggest fan of post-conversion. Good news for those who aren't fans of post-conversion!
UPDATE AGAIN!
As of right now, according to a source at WB, it has not been determined whether MAN OF STEEL will be in 3D or not. Decisions are being made on-high. I'd imagine that someone's looking at the numbers right now...
