I thought Batman Begins went by "Intimidation Game", until someone realized it was a Batman movie and mistakenly thought it would be called Batman: The Intimidation Game....Apologist Puncher wrote:In relation, I was reminded of something totally retarded that Singerman did.
When 'Batman Begins' was being filmed it went by the title "Rory's First Kiss". Nothing even to IMPLY that it had anything to do with Batman, correct? What did Singer film Singerman Peeps under? "Red Sun". Wow. Nope, no one would make THAT connection to Superman, right? What's the point of filming something using a code-name if you are too stupid to use one that ISN'T so obvious?
It was a fail from Day One.
Either way, Red Sun as a fake title was kind of dumb.

You are correct. 'The Dark Knight' filmed under "Rory's First Kiss".

Well, BB, TDK, whatever, point stands, Nolan did it right. Red Sun was a stupid fake/working title for Singerman.

Totally agree singer code name was stupid for sr. Its alot more fun to see some really totally not related name for x film as its code name.

Actually, I'm coming back to this.thecolorsblend wrote:Well, BB, TDK, whatever, point stands, Nolan did it right. Red Sun was a stupid fake/working title for Singerman.
Just to play devil's advocate, maybe Singer intentionally chose a working title that would be uncovered as part of the movies hype and PR as it went into production.
I'm not sure if being manipulative is worse than being incompetent but it was just an idea...

Author of the article probably wasn't updated on status of film is. But cool they are looking for police/fire fighters, could be a cool action scene there.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
nice to see who some of the other crew is. Though ya what the heck is peters name doing there. I thought he has no more say or wasnt assoicated with superman now. My first guess is maybe who ever wrote the creduts list at the times was mistaken on some names. Or maybe what ever peters contract was/is with wb is his name is assoicated with the project due to old contracts or something but he has no say in production matters. I just hope they are wrong and he is no where near the film even if name only credit.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
I feel a little better seeing Jim Acheson's responsible for costume design. He's done some amazing work, all the way back to the 1970's era of "Doctor Who" where he came up with amazing stuff with virtually no budget. Even looking at it now you can see how he took a fast road to Hollywood and Oscars.
Having said that, I assume he'd be working from a description from the man in charge

Re: We Need Some Movie News
I think Kevin Smith did an effective job at putting the word out on Peters. WB knows (for free, no less) what the fans think about most of the ideas Peters had. If they have brains at all (and on this count, I tend to think they do), they probably know to let him coordinate budget, logistics, contracts and whatever else but keep him far the hell away from any creative aspects.non_amos wrote:One thing I know I hate to see is the name JON PETERS!
Mind you, my own argument is undermined by the mere presence of Goyer and Nolan so take all this as you will.

Yeah, look at the bombs those guys have delivered recently.
Seriously though, rewatching some of the extras on that Superman Bluray recently, set you kinda get the impression that Peters has bought into the Superman film franchise somehow. He seems to be about the only thing carried over from Singerman and looks to be rusted on to every potential big screen incarnation.
I know I've said this before, but Kevin Smith rose in my estimation after he called out Peters and made him sound like an absolute clown, and then my fave, dumping on Singerman repeatedly whilst engaging in one of the biggest examples of in joke casting seen in recent memory.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
Though are we sure peters is officially invovled even if its in name only and no say in production matters? Cause the only time I seen his name assoicated to the film was that credits list from the times. But no where else. Like I thought a few days ago I am pretty sure I recalled. He wasn't to be assoicated with the film at all. Hopefully we find out soon officially.

Re: We Need Some Movie News
I just checked Facebook & The Man of Steel Facebook page states that there's a 'big announcement' tomorrow. I assume they mean Saturday even though it's already Saturday where I'm at. Anyway, they say it's not the suit or a casting announcement but something to do with what we'll see in the film itself. Anyone have a clue what this might be?

Clues as to the main plot.
A DCU character having a brief guest appearance.
Concept art for some sets (Daily Planet, Krypton, something or other).
All of the above is probably wrong though. If they hadn't already taken casting news off the table, I'd have thrown in a possible cameo by BJ Blandon as a bartender in a bowling alley.

According to that Facebook page the announcement should be coming in a couple of hours, or less, as of this writing. One thing I did learn earlier today in their comments from the author of the page is that WB did reveal that the film we be in 3-D! However, that's apparently not the big announcement. Still being 'teased' about that at the moment!

Here's a thought... Maybe they might release a new S-Shield design that will represent the film, not much of a "Big Announcement" but they can aleast show us that!

In other news saw this story on why Plano, ill was choosen as smallville for man of steel:
Plano, IL: How it was chosen to be Smallville for ‘Man of Steel’
Add a comment Monica Key, Phoenix Comic Books Examiner
July 16, 2011
Plano, the new Smallville, is officially the earthly home of arguably the most popular super hero on the planet- Superman. With a reported estimated budget of $175 million for production, and the incredible set photos of structures and damaged cars surfacing on the internet and the Man of Steel Facebook Fan Page, the excitement for the movie seems to be reaching a feverish pitch with Superman fans all over the world.
Earlier this week it was announced Warner Bros location manager Bill Doyle will join Plano, IL Mayor Robert Hausler on Saturday, July 16, 2011 to talk about how Plano was chosen to be Smallville in Zach Snyder’s reboot Man of Steel. I had a chance to talk with the Mayor recently about how his city was chosen.
According to Mayor Robert “Bob” Hausler, shortly after the first of the year the City of Plano was approached by Third Eye Productions. Mayor Hausler states Michigan was the focus for a Smallville filming locale. Due to state budgetary issues, Michigan ended its film subsidy program used to attract and retain film making to their state. Michigan’s loss is definitely Illinois’s gain.
Other locales were scouted, such as Sandwich, IL (located in close proximity to Plano), but Plano was ultimately selected for its period look and charm consistent with this story’s background. Rolling grassy plains, wide open spaces with farms, architecture reminiscent of the late 50’s, and a people so friendly that they warm the hearts of all who visit, it’s easy to envision this city as Smallville--- the only home Superman has ever really known.
The city signed an agreement with Third Eye Productions, only recently, while intentionally waiting for the businesses and residents whose locations were of interest in filming, to sign theirs. In return for permitting the filming of Man of Steel, the city receives a fee plus costs incurred beyond routine, e.g. overtime for police to block streets. Any areas modified by production for the filming will be returned to their original state.
As for the future of Plano, Mayor Hausler sees Man of Steel as the beginning of lobbying for more films to be produced there, “There has been overwhelming support for [Man of Steel].” The Mayor also envisions a bigger picture benefit: marketing the city as the “Home of Superman,” to which a sign has already been resurrected. With the possibility of Man of Steel as a tentpole blockbuster hit for Warner Bros, sequels could find their way back to Plano.
Man of Steel directed by Zach Snyder stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/ Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Julia Ormond as Lara, Kevin Costner as Jonathon Kent, Diana Lane as Martha Kent, and Chris Meloni as a General. Scheduled for release in December, 2012. Filming is taking place in Plano and Chicago, IL, Edwards AFB, CA, and Vancouver, BC.
Also here is a set video someone made going to plano:

Re: We Need Some Movie News
so was checking that fb page the news could possibly be that russell crowe's jorel could possibly have scenes in smallville. Hmm if this is the news they were talking about this is interesting. Either it could mean maybe they are pulling what smallville did with jorel visiting earth in the past, and/or they take the route of when clark if he discovers his ship or any devices from it leaves a holographic message for him, and they could shoot crowe there on set.
