Not if it was a publicity stunt. Free promotion for the movie and notice to all and sundry that the movie will be just as hardcore as the original. Chuck is a good fallguy for that and obviously was willing to play along. If it was for publicity, it was a good move.

Chuck has his own editor, who edits any movie he is in so he can show it to his kids.

So They Showed Some New EXPENDABLES 2 Material At CinemaCon 2012...
Published at: Apr 25, 2012 8:49:24 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

Merrick here...

Latino Review has a description of an EXPENDABLES 2 trailer which premiered at CinemaCon 2012. Word is this promo will soon start making the rounds officially, so we'll be able to see it for ourselves in pretty short order. Until then, here's a tease...

The trailer started off with team in the jungle surrounded by ruthless soldiers, and Barny Ross (played by Sylvester Stallone) kills the soldiers using his finger as a pistol. Actually, the new recruit The Kid (played by Liam Hemsworth) was the sniper that killed the soldiers.

[EDIT]

...it also focused on Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis in action for the sequel.

[EDIT]

Schwarzenegger and Willis driving in a tiny European smart car

[UPDATE from Monty Cristo at CinemaCon: Hey guys, I saw this trailer last night before the screening of WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING. The trailer includes hand-to-hand combat between Stallone and Van Damme, Schwarzenegger invoking one of his classic catchphrases, Chuck Norris making a crowd-rousing entrance, and a general look and feel that excites me more about the film than any of the promo material for the first one did. The lineup of badasses combined with the kinetic energy of this trailer makes me think that this is what a lot of fans out there need to see to get pumped for this movie. The trailer will premiere soon enough, attached to the front of AVENGERS on May 4th.]

You can find further description of the trailer HERE. EXPENDABLES 2 hits screens this August.

Lionsgate thinking of turning expendables into a tv show:
http://www.deadline.com/2012/05/lionsgate-considers-turning-the-expendables-into-a-tv-series/
Lionsgate Considers Turning ‘The Expendables’ Into A TV Series BY DAVID LIEBERMAN, Executive Editor | Thursday May 31, 2012 @ 12:30pm EDT

Lionsgate is looking at converting several movies into TV series —including, I’m told, the 2010 action film about a team of mercenaries. It wasn’t on CEO Jon Feltheimer’s list this morning, though, when he briefly discussed synergy plans in a conference call with Wall Street analysts following the company’s release last night of its fiscal Q4 results. Feltheimer says he’s also considering making series from Red and Step Up, film franchises acquired with the recent purchase of Summit Entertainment. Speaking of the deal, Feltheimer noted that Lionsgate’s $500M term loan to fund it “will be paid down on schedule” and its debt will be “significantly reduced.” One of the main reasons for that, of course, is the huge success of The Hunger Games. Due to the timing of the release in March at the end of the studio’s fiscal Q4, about 90% of the profits have yet to be reported. That made Feltheimer confident enough to report that Lionsgate “will generate approximately $900 million in EBITDA over the next three yeas.”

Sage Stallone 1976-2012
Published at: Jul 13, 2012 7:25:43 PM CDT

 'Expendables 2' - Page 4 Sage

Sage Stallone died today at the age of 36 in his home.

With his partner Bob Murawski, he helped found Grindhouse Releasing, which was a distribution company dedicated to releasing and restoring exploitation films from the 1970s and 1980s. Two of the films they helped restore were CANNIBAL FEROX and CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. Grindhouse Releasing also did a remaster of Sam Raimi's THE EVIL DEAD. Grindhouse Releasing has helped keep exploitation film alive at a time when many forgot about the many wonderful filmmakers from that period of cinema. Sage Stallone was largely responsible for helping get many of those movies seen, restored, and distributed.

Sage was also the son of Sylvester Stallone, and co-starred with him in ROCKY V and DAYLIGHT.

We here at Ain't It Cool offer our sincerest condolences to Mr. Stallone and his family at this time.

Nordling, out.

Some expandable 3 casting news:
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=65622
Nicolas Cage, Clint Eastwood And More Set To Join The Cast Of THE EXPENDABLES 3?

The Expendables 2 hasn't been released in theatres just yet, but producer Avi Lerner reveals that they're already approaching the likes of Nicolas Cage,Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford and Wesley Snipes for a third instalment! Hit the jump for details. Josh Wilding - 8/13/2012

There's no denying that the casts of both The Expendables and The Expendables 2 are pretty much a dream come true foractionn fans. However, there are still a fair few stars missing from them both, something that producer Avi Lerner is hoping to rectify with a planned third instalment in the franchise reports Total Film.

"We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters]. And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]."

It appears as if Nicolas Cage (who worked with The Expendables 2 director Simon West on Con Air) has already signed up to play a character possibly called, 'Hunter Gatherer', although their recording apparently wasn't clear enough to pick up his name. The site also reveal a major spoiler about the fate of Jean-Claude Van Damme's 'Jean Vilain' in the sequel, and address the chances of him appearing in the planned third instalment (you can find all of that by clicking on the link below). Now there's a name, Clint Eastwood! The problem now though is ain't he in his 80's? What line of thinking I'm doing here is basically, too bad they didn't get him in his prime. But then again, these films didn't come out in the 70's either. But maybe they should have? Or at least have done it's equivalent back then. I mean, some of the younger cast wouldn't have been available but you still could've used the likes of Stallone, Norris, Ahh-nulld, etc. To have included Eastwood in that time period during his 'Dirty Harry' days would've been like icing on the cake. But to include him now? Not only is he old but he's more of a director at this point anyway. Any ideas on what his character might be?

He can play Former-Gunny-Now-GENERAL-Highway:

And if ANY of you guys haven't seen 'Heartbreak Ridge', I will pull your man card expeditiously.

The only thing that sucked was the sound at the theater I saw it at. All the sound was pumping out of the front speakers, and it was very grainy and ruined a lot of the effect. I'm going to have to see it again, at a different theater next time.

But Van Damme might just have punched his ticket back to mainstream HollyWeird with this film.

Yeah but that also leads into the one criticism I have of the movie. Basically, I thought JCVD went down a little too easily. Sure, he beat the piss out of Sly for a while but, when all's said and done, what I really wanted was to see more of JCVD's trademark spin kicks. NOBODY does it the way he does, you know?

Still, if the biggest complaint I have about the thing is that JVCD doesn't show his full badassitude, well, you know it was a pretty good movie.

Wouldn't have minded more Jet Li either.
