Pretty much. TV Trek can also be more flexible with it's stories, whereas the films can only be action driven because the budgets are so high they need to attract wider audiences. The only reason the older films were made in the first place were because they were following TV shows that ended, so they were more like special reunions. With Pine and the rest of the cast, the movies are all you'll ever get with them. If all they're gonna get to do is rehashes of better Trek from the past, it's a big waste because I actually like most of the cast.
