Looks like Stallone won't go into THE TOMB alone... ARNOLD IS BACK!!!
Published at: Jan 11, 2012 7:41:04 PM CST
Hey folks, Harry here... Ya know, ain't it always the way... just 2 days ago I could have chatted with THE MAN himself about this - but as I was driving home with Yoko, my phone rang and a familiar voice let me in on a secret that - well... it's the sort of thing that AB KING will lose his fool mind over.
We've all heard that Sylvester Stallone is going to be starring in THE TOMB - a film that is currently directorless. You see, at one point, Antoine Fuqua was set to direct THE TOMB with Bruce Willis to play the lead character of Ray Breslin. THEN... Bruce pulled his chute and exited THE TOMB, only to have the rumor circle stating that Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to play Ray Breslin... instead he chose to star in LAST STAND.
Shortly before Halloween last year, Stallone chose to take the role of Ray Breslin in THE TOMB. Who is Ray Breslin? Reportedly he's an expert on structural security for High Security Prisons - and ironically enough gets framed and must escape to discover who put him there.
Well, the familiar - oh so reliable contact that whispered in my ear on the drive home... specifically as I was driving through Fort Sumner, New Mexico... told me that Sly has a very interesting co-star that is currently circling and discussing with Sly to join him in THE TOMB... and that's Arnold Schwarzenegger.
That's right. Looks like Arnold, who was already familiar with the project has another role he's interested in for the film - and man... how exciting is that?
I have an exclusive interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger that is coming soon - where he talks at length about his return to the big screen. It is a fascinating conversation with a legend. Can't wait to share!
THE TOMB is set up at SUMMIT Pictures - and now - let's see who helms this!

I wondered that Arnold, the godfather of action cinema, might have a hard time returning to film. And I guess he still might as nothing new has come out just yet. But still, I dig that he's getting work at least for now.

Actually, he's filming a movie as we speak:

The Last Stand, Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Starts Filming
Source: Lionsgate October 17, 2011
Lionsgate announced today that filming has started for Kim Jee-Woon's action film The Last Stand, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Zach Gilford, Forest Whitaker, Luis Guzman, Rodrigo Santoro, Johnny Knoxville, Jaimie Alexander, Eduardo Noriega, Peter Stormare and Harry Dean Stanton.
LIONSGATE®, a leading global entertainment company, is pleased to announce the start of production on Kim Jee-Woon’s THE LAST STAND, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The announcement was made by the President of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group Joe Drake, and President of Production Michael Paseornek.
The shoot, which begins on October 17, 2011, will take place across locations in New Mexico and Nevada.
Rounding out the cast are Zach Gilford (FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS), Forest Whitaker (THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND), Luis Guzman (CARLITO’S WAY, BOOGIE NIGHTS), Rodrigo Santoro (CHE, I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS), Johnny Knoxville (The JACKASS films), Jaimie Alexander (THOR), Eduardo Noriega (OPEN YOUR EYES), Peter Stormare (FARGO, THE BIG LEBOWSKI) and Harry Dean Stanton (AILIEN, THE GREEN MILE).
Korean action-suspense master Kim Jee-Woon (A TALE OF TWO SISTERS, THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE WEIRD) is directing the film, which is based on a spec script by Andrew Knauer that was subsequently rewritten by Jeffrey Nachmanoff. Lionsgate has domestic and international distribution rights, with the film having pre-sold well in several overseas territories prior to its production. Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing the film through his di Bonaventura Pictures.
Schwarzenegger stars as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.
Schwarzenegger, Knoxville and Jee-Woon are represented by CAA. Santoro and Stormare are represented by ICM, with Guzman represented by the Gersh Agency, and Whitaker and Gilford represented by WME. Stanton is represented by Bresler-Kelly and Associates. The cast deals were negotiated on behalf of Lionsgate by Robert Melnik, Executive Vice President of Business Affairs.

There is absolutely nothing at all wrong with that picture. I literally wouldn't change a thing.

Ya know, Ahh-nullld was to star in a new TERMINATOR film prior to his scandal with the 'hired help'. It seemingly got put on hold then. Anyone know if there's any more developments on it? I mean, the lid got put on that due to the controversy but if he's returning to acting anyway, well, why not?

Wow, didn't know that. Guess I just assumed his age and T4's underwhelming numbers nixed the idea of another Terminator movie.non_amos wrote:Ya know, Ahh-nullld was to star in a new TERMINATOR film prior to his scandal with the 'hired help'. Yeah, there really were developments. That Asian guy what's-his-name that I believe did T4 was going to return only this time with the real deal. Not really sure where the story was to have gone though. It's assumed that Bale would've returned also. Then the scandal broke & there it went! But hey, if he's returned to acting anyway, get it back on track, I say!

Re: Sly & Arnold To Co-Star In 'The Tomb'?
On the terminator talk. From what I remember there was a. Bunch of plans. First when t4 came out they where hhoping for bale/mcg to do anothher. When it bombed those plans sizzled out. And went back into developmental hell. There was then talk of film being ppartially set in like 05 england for some crazy reason that idea died out too. During that time the terminator rights were out in open. The then owners lost rights/sold them I forget the whole reasons there. During this time justin lin from fast and furious series started to talk about wanting to do a film. And started up some plans on it. Which then lead to some producer chick I think buying the rights. And she then agreeded to take lin for director. Lin had talked about speaking with cameron about some ideas of his, waand with arnold to possibly do the film. But just recently lin had to drop out of it. Due to universal wants him doing fast 6 and 7 together.. but he hopes the producer lady will wait for him to be done with the fast films to do it. Lin also talked about wanting to bring bback sarah and jjyle some way too.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone Talk THE TOMB, THE EXPENDABLES 2, Their Careers and “Male Pattern Badness”
by Dave Trumbore Posted:May 24th, 2012 at 9:34 pm
You’ll have to wait until August 17th to see Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone together again in The Expendables 2, but this video from the set visit of The Tomb should hold you over. Production started recently in New Orleans on the Mikael Hafstrom (1408) picture that stars Sly as Ray Breslin, the world’s foremost authority on structural security who is framed and incarcerated in a prison of his own design. In prison, Breslin meets Emil Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger), the leader of the prisoners who wants to get out just as badly as Breslin does. In this video, Stallone and Schwarzenegger comment further on their characters in The Tomb, their work together on The Expendables and The Expendables 2, and the old-school machismo of action movies and their stars, which Sly calls, “male pattern badness.” Written by Miles Chapman (Road House 2: Last Call) and Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher), The Tomb also stars Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Jim Caviezel, Amy Ryan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, and new addition Sam Neill. Hit the jump to check it out along with some images from the set.
ET posted this interview with Schwarzenegger and Stallone from their set visit to The Tomb. It’s great to hear them talk retrospectively about their career while being obviously enthusiastic about the road that’s left ahead of them. Can’t wait to see their chemistry on screen. Expect to see them break out of The Tomb sometime next year. Be sure to read up on the full synopsis to get a rundown of the characters. Check out the video interview below and be sure to take a look at the screencaps we grabbed.
