Re: Amazing Spider-Man news thread
A possible early concept artwork for lizard, from spider-media website:
If this is real like the pez thing it does look they wanted to go early dikto for lizard. Though it would be nice if over time in film if he grows stronger looks more modern lizard looks.

Yeah, the alien thing is another argument against a more human type of Lizard.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man news thread
Well like i said earlier would be nice if over time in the film he keeps on changing more and more into less human look to a more full on lizard creature would be a nice angle they can do.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man news thread
Well the sony folks probably thought it was easier/cheaper to just take the new suit and slap it on artwork of old series and edit it slightly and claim its new.

Nice pics.
Incidentally, am I the only one who hopes Capt. Stacy goes on a big rant about how much he hates self-help books and how everyone would be better if someone told them to just the fuck up?

Re: Amazing Spider-Man news thread
I saw that before I went to work but didn't have time to post. Yeah, you're right. What's up with that?! Doesn't anyone proofread these things?!
As for the Abomination, I know this ain't a Hulk thread but since the pic was posted..........I liked the awesome power that he had in THE INCREDIBLE HULK but I didn't like how they changed his appearance. I don't remember now exactly where I read this but it was probably in 2008 online but anyway. I recall some douchebag involved in the production of the film stating why they changed Abomination's appearance. I think the gist is that the comics version was too 'comic-booky'! I mean, who's gonna buy a reptilian-looking guy with fins for ears? Right? So instead make his appearance like a 'mutated human', i.e., mutated, exaggerated human anatomy. Don't remember who said this crap but I do remember reading it.
I dare say what would've been wrong with the 'comic-booky' version?! It certainly looks better & is true to the source material. It also could've been pulled off in CGI. But I think the kicker is that someone thought they had to 'change' it to 'fix' it. Kinda like the even more reprehensible Hardly Bane! I just hope if they ever bring back Abomination, someone will have the presence of mind to fix that!
Now the question is, is this what they're now doing with the Lizard?

Re: Amazing Spider-Man news thread
I'm not too familiar with the comics so I googled some images. The Abomination they used in the movie seems to be a non-green version with regular ears. If they'd said "we wanted to change his appearances to give him better contrast against Hulk" or some such, irrespective of their true motives, I think most people would've bought into that. But the "too comic booky" shit... grrrrrr.non_amos wrote:As for the Abomination, I know this ain't a Hulk thread but since the pic was posted..........I liked the awesome power that he had in THE INCREDIBLE HULK but I didn't like how they changed his appearance. Maybe I should direct an adaptation of a Shakespeare play. But I won't want to make it too old and retarded so I'll modernize the setting, characters and language. I'll set everything in Los Angeles, see, and instead of being royalty, I'll make Juliet a sort of Kardashian-like celebrity/socialite. Think I'll also change Romeo's name to R-Dawg and make him a drug-slinging dealer from waaaaaaay out of town. Instead of being in love, Juliet throws R-Dawg a pity-fuck and then ends up preggers and so the main dramatic conflict is what to do with the baby. Juliet wants to have it just to piss off her tight-assed father while R-Dawg wants her to abort. They end up shooting each other over it and they all die. From there, the credits roll over a reelection ad for Obama.
I think that's a lot more modern and relatable for audiences today. You see, you don't want to make things too old or too Renaissancey as mass audiences won't be able to relate to it. That stuff might work for core theater fans but wide audiences need something more identifiable.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man news thread
I didnt think the change for him was that bad of a deal. Now ya i am not much of a hulk fan so i didnt really effect me much. For what the film talked about for the super solider forumla the change worked for the character. Now yes it would have been nice if they made him more simular to comics look but changing it like they did wasnt to bad in my opinion.

I disagree. Let me post a couple of pics for comparison. First, here's how the character should look as in the comics:
Now here's a quick pic from the film:
It's like it's not even the same character! As a matter of fact, I seem to recall reading somewhere where the film version was compared to how THE TOXIC AVENGER looked. I haven't looked up a pic for that but you can probably see the similarities. Anyway, I prefer the comics version even for the purpose of film. If they ever bring back the character, then they need to have him 'evolve' or something to how he should look. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Now I know TIH didn't have the best box office but it was still a great film. However, when you go screwing around with the source material, I don't think it's necessarily a recipe for success. Remember directors, 'word-of-mouth' still counts for a lot!

Re: Amazing Spider-Man news thread
Non i know what his comic look looked like. But like i said i think the designers wanted to change it due to his fish/lizard look to what they did for purpose of the story. Still ya would be cool if he ever shows up again if they modified his look. i was just going at what they said the forumla did in mcu what his look there works.
