Even BJ Routh Knows Singerman Sucked!!
In the 2X4's own words:

Notice he didn't say "another good Superman film"? I know I sure did....
I think that those of us over at the SSS Blog really got to him. Good.

And the new Superman film? “I’m looking forward to a good Superman film for all the fans. I’m one of them.”

I wonder if MostPowerfulVaginaStenchFromStargazingOnSolaris is going to read this, and come to the same conclusion we did?
Nah. She's an idiot...

It's not like I know her personally or anything but my hunch is that she'd say BeeJay Blandon is being "tactful" and "diplomatic" about MOS. And that may even be true, fucked if I know, but the fact that he omitted his own "contribution"... well, it kinda says something, doesn't it?Apologist Puncher wrote:I wonder if MostPowerfulVaginaStenchFromStargazingOnSolaris is going to read this, and come to the same conclusion we did?

I never questioned the influence the Singerman Sucks blog ever had but, fuck me, now I'm starting to wonder that we kick-started the reboot (or at least cancellation of the Singerverse) through sheer force of will.

Re: Even BJ Routh Knows Singerman Sucked!!
Just wait. By the time MOS comes out and becomes a success story Routh is probably going to express a more honest opinion about what he thinks of SR in retrospect.
Honestly, I always suspected Routh had problems with SR. Interviews that hinted a frustration, like not being able to throw a punch. But in his position, I can't blame him for not going off expressing all his problems right off the bat. Actors don't don't do that. You don't go around Hollywood bad mouthing the people that gave you your job. Otherwise you're some asshole like Shia LaBeouf, who seems to trash every movie he ever stars in to the point Harrison Ford finally calls him out for being a "fucking idiot"
Don't be surprised when he says MOS is the film that fans should have got in 2006. Mark my words.

The routh avatar is just for new posters. After a certain amount of posts it changes to other superman related images.

Apparently it's his nickname that this site seems to have adopted.

Re: Even BJ Routh Knows Singerman Sucked!!
His first two initial are "BJ". Brandon J. Routh. He has apparently used "Brandon 'BJ' Routh" as his onscreen credit. We have adopted that mostly in mockery but partly related to...Scarecrow wrote:Why do you call him BJ Routh?
http://singerssupermansucks.blogspot.com/2006/07/story-that-just-wont-go-away.html
Other variations that some of us (I have no idea who) have come up with are Blandon (he has no screen presence. He's bland. Blandon, get it?), BJ The Bartender, Routhman and probably others I'm forgetting. There are also combinations of the above.
One reason we (or at least I) do it is because most of us don't buy into the party line that he was the one strong point of Singerman and he should've had a shot at the reboot or should be in the JLA movie. A lot of us tend to view Routh as being very much of a piece with Singerman. In other words, he's as bad as any other element in Singerman and, I would argue, worse than most. But I'll spare you my Routh rant since either (A) you already agree or (B) nothing I can say will change your mind at this point.
The site is set to cycle you through various avatars depending on how many posts you've written. You start off with Blandon (the least desirable) and progress your way up to, I believe, Chris Reeve (who's obviously top dog). I think that's how it works. Puncher broke it down for me at one point but obviously it went in one eye and out the other. It's nothing you've done to "deserve" a Routh avatar. It's more that it's the starting point for everybody and it's supposed to be an incentive to make more posts. We'd like your input on whatever we're discussing.Scarecrow wrote:edit: and what did I do to deserve a SR avatar?

Thanks for the in depth description.
Still a bit gutted at the SR avatar though, no sense in punishing people who've just walked through the door

Since the avatar thing has been brought up, I just had a thought. When is HENRY CAVILL gonna be included in this? And where exactly do we put him? If MOS 'blows our socks off' like I think it will & everyone else for that matter, just where in the order do we put him? Just behind Reeve? Or ahead of him? Ahead of him?! What sacrilege! Or is it? Cavill will obviously be the most pumped Superman & if the film is as good as it appears right now to be, just where will any of us stand on this? Not just the avatar issue either but even the respective films themselves, i.e., MOS vs. STM?

I say let's wait until the film goes out. And especially wait for an appropriate image that can work well formatted as an avatar.

Re: Even BJ Routh Knows Singerman Sucked!!
Can I tell you something? No matter which way the wind blows on that one, at least it'll be a real discussion. The way things have been for the past few years, the comparison has been between Blandon and Reeve. Talk about lopsided! So it'll be nice to actually do a real comparison between two actors in the role for once.non_amos wrote:Since the avatar thing has been brought up, I just had a thought. Re: Even BJ Routh Knows Singerman Sucked!!
that's a fair point.
With the quality of the film and basically having to try and impersonate Reeve Routh never had much of a chance.
That won't be the case for Cavill.

My stars! You'd think that if anyone had a right to sour grapes, it'd be Bwandon 'BJ' Routhman! I mean, c'mon! Love him or hate him but look at it this way. If you had been fortunate enough to be cast in the role of SUPERMAN, then got cast aside like yesterday's news wouldn't you be angry? Disappointed, upset, the whole 9 yards! But this dude is still gushing love for [Singerman] 6 years later! And still acting like it was successful. And acting like he is successful?!
Please duh WB, don't release duh ultimate edition of Singerman Peeps on Blu-Ray to coincide with the theatrical release of THE MAN OF STEEL, 'K?

Re: Even BJ Routh Knows Singerman Sucked!!
To be fair, getting the part of a title role of a big budget summer tentpole film probably opened more doors for his career than before he got the gig. Like him or not, you gotta admire his gratefulness for having that opportunity. Not many actors get that and he seems to appreciate it. Then you look at movie stars like Shia LaBeouf who bitch about everything they work on. Whether Routh is a good actor or not, at least he acts like a professional. He's only hinted at being frustrated about SR in few interviews, I don't expect full disclosure until many more years have past.

I'm still trying to figure out what doors have been opened for him. Bit parts and supporting roles in various flop movies don't seem like the big time to me. Then again, I'm the guy who still hasn't figured out what George Clooney is such a superstar considering his dearth of successful movies that don't co-star bigger, more successful actors.

Re: Even BJ Routh Knows Singerman Sucked!!
It isn't big time, but it's more work than he used to get before getting the Superman gig and that's what he seems grateful for. Before Superman all he did was soap roles and one time guest spots. Getting acting gigs is really tough out there.thecolorsblend wrote:I'm still trying to figure out what doors have been opened for him. Let's not forget though. BJ the Bartender did have a lead role since Singerman. You know, Dylan Does Dogs. And 'Jimmy' was there with him.
