Hugh Jackman returns as the iconic mutant on July 26, 2013
Despite some production delays, the highly-anticipated franchise sequel, The Wolverine, appears to be back on track and now has an official release date of July 26, 2013.
To be directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine will follow up 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine and finds Logan beginning a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won't take "no" for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers and Silver Samurai.
The new release date tentatively puts the project up against Lionsgate's Dirty Dancing remake and Walt Disney Pictures' Phineas and Ferb film.
Christopher McQuarrie provided the original screenplay with rewrites performed by Mark Bomback.

Is anyone here actually looking forward to this?
I'm pretty "Meh" about it, and for Jackman's Wolverine in general nowadays.

I'm hopeful for this. Having just seen ORIGINS for the first time, something needs to be done to wipe away that stench.

I've never been high on the character outside the movies to begin with. But outside X-Men, I really don't care. My view is that Wolverine works best in a group environment. I'm sure it's not hard to find instances where he's strong, able and interesting solo character but I can't shake the impression that those are the exceptions which inform for the rule. So as far as this movie is concerned... eh. Maybe I'll see it. And maybe I'll even enjoy it. Not I. Strangely I find that I only really care about the X-Men when Wolverine is around... and only care about Wolverine in the context of the X-Men. His solo movies just never meant much to me.

I've even heard it's pretty good in comparison to the 1st film & I think it even got good reviews but my reason for not seeing it is probably more financial than anything anyway. I'd probably be at the movies every weekend if I could afford it. Oh well. I guess I can get the Blu-Ray.

It wasn't bad. Slows down big-time in the middle. Director AGAIN ignores the fact that Logan has METAL COVERING HIS BONES. So even with a weakened healing factor, he shouldn't react to punches, should punch guys heads around, and should be as heavy as shot.
And of course NONE of these are realized.
Oh, and the ending is kind of retarded. And by kind of I mean totally.
