That's too bad, I would have loved to see him return in a big action/adventure movie again.

Zachary Levi Talks More About His Interpretation Of Fandral In THOR 2
The former Chuck star talks a little more at this year's San Diego Comic-Con about his role as Fandral in Thor 2, saying that he hopes that he and the rest of the Warriors Three will have a much bigger role than in the first film.
Josh Wilding - 7/13/2012
Zachary Levi was Marvel Studios' first choice to play Fandral in Thor, but was forced to turn down the role due to his then commitment to Chuck. When it comes to Thor 2, the tables were turned as Josh Dallas (who played the member of "The Warriors Three" in the Kenneth Branagh movie) was forced to pull out of the sequel because of his role in Once Upon a Time. That means Levi will finally get an opportunity to show us all what we missed out on back in 2010 as he recently confirmed that he has signed on to play the character. Talking at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier today (view the full chat courtesy of Ustream by clicking the link below) the actor has shared his thoughts on what he plans to bring to the role.
"Fandral is a little similar to Flynn Rider [the character he played in animated feature, Tangled] in some ways. So, I'll start there. He's like this lothario. He's like Errol Flynn. He loves ladies, as do I...I'm really looking forward to being able to be a completely different character. He's not British, he's Asgardian, but he speaks like he's from England [Laughs] as some of them do so that'll be fun. I hope to get to be blonde, that'll be crazy. Did you see the first Thor? The Warriors Three were in the first one, but they were just kind of in and out of a few scenes so I hope that Fandral is in a little bit more of this one. And I hope I get to kick butt with a sword and ride a horse and be charming! That's the idea anyway!"

And so it begins... With today's Iron Man 3 panel at San Diego Comic Con, Marvel Studios will reveal much more about their upcoming projects. Now, IGN has exclusively revealed that the full title for Thor sequel might be Thor: The Darkest World. Report also says this:
"The title will be revealed during today's Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con panel in Hall H. We hear there may even be some footage from the film shown. (We'd imagine it might be visual effects/proof of concept-type stuff.) Want even more cool Marvel movie news? That Ant-Man footage that Edgar Wright recently shot will be shown to the fans, according to our sources."
Stay tuned for much more Comic-Con news, as well as a full report about this and Iron Man 3 in a couple of hours.

UPDATED| Possibly hinting at the fire demon,Surtur's inclusion in the sequel,a reported casting call for Marvel's Thor: The Dark World reveals extras that're skilled with fire are needed! DCMarvelFreshman - 7/25/2012
Marvel and director Alan Taylor are currently in London prepping the official commencement of filming for the anticipated sequel, Thor: The Dark World. And although primary cast additions have yet to unveil, casting calls for background roles apparently have. According to a Tumblr user, a casting call for the anticipated sequel has revealed producers are in need of extras that're particularly experts with fire. The Tumblr user writes:
“‘Men of Fire
For the a new Marvel Super Hero feature film we are looking for men who are skilled in playing with fire to pretend to be warriors.
The Requirements: You must be highly skilled with playing with fire example skills include -Spinning, Fire Sticks, Fire Breathing, Fire eating etc’”.
UPDATE: The User has offered verbatim info, which an additional source (Universal Extras) confirms. How do you think fire dancing, eating & breathing relates to Thor's next outing? It's likely to involve earthbound scenes, but more interestingly, it could be one of the other "dark worlds" the Asgardians are bound to pay a visit. Perhaps, the casting call alludes to the sequel exploring Muspelheim, the realm of eternal fire, and the home of the Fire Demons and their ruler Surtur. That could be in addition to the strongly-believed Dark Elves. What do you think?
Filming Of THOR: THE DARK WORLD Goes Underground
Rumour has it that Thor: The Dark World will feature the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim,so it perhaps shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that the highly anticipated sequel is now heading underground as Marvel prepares to shoot in London. Read on for details! Josh Wilding - 7/25/2012
Bleeding Cool have apparently discovered that Thor: The Dark World will be shooting in, "some long tunnels in London [which] will be used for the filming of scenes that, as yet, we haven’t been able to confirm as taking place on Earth, on Asgard or elsewhere." They don't have an awful lot more than that in the way of new details, although it was recently revealed by stuntman James Grogan that "elves" will be featured in the sequel (more than likely the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim). They have been known to live in caves in the comic books, so this certainly makes sense. Whether or not this will be "The Dark World" that the title refers to remains unknown. As filming draws closer, we should also soon hear some casting news, especially now that Mads Mikkelsen has dropped out of the film as the main villain due to commitments to the Hannibal TV series.

Thor Sequel Filming Location, Scene Details Revealed by Spencer Perry July 27, 2012 Share this story
The upcoming Marvel Studios sequel to start filming in England
Marvel's upcoming sequel Thor: The Dark World is set to start filming soon in England and the production office of 'another film' titled 'Thursday Mourning' put out a letter to the residents of the Bourne Wood area to let them know that they will be filming nearby in August and September. Though they don't actually say they're filming Thor, it's not hard to figure it out.
Portions of the letter read:
We are writing to let you know about some filming about to be undertaken in Bourne Wood in the coming months. Please find a brief overview and introduction to this project.
"Thursday Mourning" is the working title of a major feature film. It is comic book adaptation set in another "fictional realm".
We will be establishing a fictional village set in another realm, with yurts and village like dressing in the bowl. The sequence involves a battle between two kingdoms, ending in our comic book hero arriving to save the day. The sequence will involve a substantial amount of Stunts and controlled special effects all within the hours 0700 - 1900hrs.
We plan to use most of the areas that are usually occupied by film units for all our support vehicles. The sequence will involve approximately 300 extras who will arrive in the early hours prior to call time to go through costume and makeup.
Sounds like a pretty epic battle scene in the making. Many movies have filmed in the Bourne Wood area. You can check out a list of the films by clicking here.
Thanks to 'Steve' for the heads up! Thor: The Dark World is set to hit theaters on November 8, 2013.

“Thor 2 : The Dark World” may have found its villain in thesp Eccelston, says Deadline.
Eccleston, whose other credits include “G.I Joe : The Rise of Cobra” and “28 Days Later”, would be playing – as previously rumoured – Malekith The Accursed.

‘Thor: The Dark World’ May Visit Thor’s Home in Iceland
Posted on 8.3.12 by Matt Granados
The cast and crew of Thor: The Dark World are about to pack their crampons.
This month marks commencement of principal photography on the sequel to Marvel Studios’ 2011 hit Thor. Helmed by director Alan Taylor of Game of Thrones fame, production will find its headquarters in England.
According to an Icelandic website, the merry ole land of Big Ben won’t be Dark World’s only stop. Production is expected to partially shoot the superhero epic in Iceland.
What better vistas to depict Thor’s fantastically expansive world than that of his mythological home – Iceland? Iceland is one of several Germanic countries from which Norse mythology originates.
Director Taylor is no stranger to Iceland. Thrones made use of Iceland’s stunning landscapes by filming exteriors on the Nordic European island country.
When asked about filming the TV show, he said; “We feel amazing to travel to a world that looks like those we are trying to create. It gives us all inspiration.” Inspiration seems to be the operative word when it comes to Iceland.
Christopher Nolan filmed key sections of Batman Begins there. As did Ridley Scott with this year’s shot of geek poison I refer to as “that kinda-sorta Alien prequel with a cool abortion scene.” Darren Aronofsky is also expected to make the trip for his biblical epic Noah.
Thor: The Dark World follows Thor as he enters the Nine Realms hunted by his vengeful brother Loki, the main baddie from Avengers. Anticipate Nordic badassery.

Alice Krige Lands a Small Role in ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Posted on Monday, August 13th, 2012 by Russ Fischer
Briefly: Alice Krige has a look that is both regal and gorgeously unusual, which has made her perfect for roles as the Borg Queen in Star Trek: First Contact, as well as in films and TV series like Silent Hill, Deadwood, and the Quay Brothers’ early feature Institute Benjamenta.
Now Krige is set for a role in Thor: The Dark World, which begins shooting later this month under the direction of Alan Taylor from a script by Robert Rodat. We don’t know her role, but we do know that Christopher Eccleston is playing Malekith the Accursed, the leader of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. So she may be an associated personality. Krige confirmed her participation in the film this past weekend at the big Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, and noted that she may not be recognizable, which has led to suspicion that she’ll be wearing a good deal of makeup and/or prosthetics. But why hire Krige just to hide her?
Thor: The Dark World brings Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Tadanobu Asano, Stellan Skarsgard and Ray Stevenson back into Asgard and related realms. It is set for release on November 8, 2013. [CBM]

Thor 2 Lands Another Villain by Spencer Perry August 22, 2012 Share this story
Well, two actually, sort of
Variety is reporting that actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will be taking on two villain roles, sort of, for the upcoming Marvel Studios film Thor: The Dark World. He will be portraying Algrim the Strong and Kurse.
Algrim first appeared in Thor #347 and was one of the most powerful of the dark elves. He is given the task of killing Thor by Malekith the Accursed (set to be played by Christopher Eccleston). He is betrayed by Malekith who tries to kill Thor by allowing both the god of thunder and Algrim to fall to their deaths. While both survived, Algrim developed amnesia from the event and is transformed into the much more powerful being Kurse.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has appeared on screen in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, The Bourne Identity, and played Mr. Eko on "Lost."
Thor: The Dark World reunites Chris Hemsworth with Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, and Natalie Portman as the love interest Jane Foster. Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones") is stepping behind the camera for its November 8, 2013 release date.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=66898
RUMOR: Could DR STRANGE Appear In THOR: THE DARK WORLD?
This is one rumor I really hope turns out to be true -The Playlist reckon Marvel might be planning on introducing Dr. Stephen Strange in the upcoming Thor sequel, and, they even have a name that could be on Marvel's wishlist to play him. Read on.. Mark "RorMachine" Cassidy - 9/7/2012
We know that a Dr Strange movie is on Marvel's to-do-list and has been for quite some time, but we haven't really heard anything solid regarding them getting the wheels in motion - until now? Maybe. One way of familiarizing audiences with a character before setting him up with his own movie is of course to give him a cameo in someone else's film first - and that might just be what happens in the sequel to Thor.
This rumor has actually flown under the radar for a while. The Playlist recorded a podcast a while back, focusing on the current and future slate of superhero movies. In it they mention that they might know something about a certain Master of the mystic arts playing a part in Thor: The Dark World - and not just a cameo appearance either. Screenrant were good enough to break it down for us..
The Playlist claimed that Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster could be working alongside Dr. Strange in a similar capacity as she did with Stellan Skarsgård’s Dr. Erik Selvig in the first film, and that Strange would be playing a big part in “all three acts” of the film, as opposed to being relegated to a cameo-type introduction. He would play a scientist (he’s a genius neurosurgeon in the comics) and someone who’s deeply interested in Foster’s stories and knowledge about Asgard and Thor
That's not all, the site also claim that Joel Edgerton (Warrior, The Thing) was the man Marvel wanted to don the cloak and goatee to play the role. "Was" and "wanted" make it sound like it is now unlikely to happen, but I think he's a pretty good choice myself. Anyway, we have to take all of this with the ever ready pinch of salt for now, but do you think this would be the best way to go about introducing Dr Strange to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Rumor: Viggo Mortensen Might Appear As Dr. Strange In ‘Thor: The Dark World’ Posted on Monday, September 10th, 2012 by Germain Lussier
As more and more news leaks about Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, our curious natures take over. Sure Iron Man, Thor and Captain America are all getting new movies, but which characters and Easter Eggs will be included that look ahead to The Avengers 2 and Phase Three? The safe bet would be to look at set photos like these as well as the plots of Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man, things that have some basis in realtiy. But what’s the fun in that?
It’s more fun to go way out there on a limb, and a new rumor does just that. The rumor is that Dr. Strange will appear in Thor: The Dark World and Marvel wants Viggo Mortensen to play him. Read more after the jump.
According to ScreenRant and The Playlist (both of which helped contribute to this article) the rumors originated with the Twitter account Roger Wardell, which has been posting dead-on Marvel insider information for some months.
Roger Wardell @RogerWardell
Inside News: Marvel is negotiations with Viggo Mortensen for an unspecified role in one of their Phase 2 films.
Roger Wardell @RogerWardell
Inside News: There's something "Strange" about Thor: The Dark World
These tweets were posted independently, but the pairing does make sense. Joel Edgerton had reportedly been discussed to play the part at some point but was too busy to oblige. Mortensen fits that same gruff, alpha-male role and even brings some Oscar cred. He’s also not adverse to doing genre films, as he was one of the leads in the Lord of the Rings movies.
Again – this is all just rumor based off a Twitter account, but it’s fun to speculate. A Dr. Strange movie has been in the works at Marvel for some time and he seems like a good character to introduce in a similar way to Hawkeye, and then bring him in to help The Avengers battle a cosmic threat in The Avengers 2. But how would he fit into The Dark World? His amulet was in Odin’s Throne room after all (as was Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet) and he’s occassionaly crossed paths with the Norse brothers in the comics.
What do you think about this rumor? Is introducing Strange in The Dark World a good start? Would it lead to the Strange movie? Could Mortensen play the role?

Thor 2 Rumour – Is A Major Character Going To Be Killed Off?
Written on September 13, 2012 by Brendon Connelly in Film
This story may well contain a major spoiler.
A couple of good sources have echoed one big Thor 2 idea to me. It’s nothing official, but the indications are clear and they’ve had the right vantage point to read them.
What I’m being told is that one of the main characters in The Dark World is going to be killed off before the end credits roll.
The film is currently shooting here in the UK and I hope that our eyes and ears near the set are going to be able to pick up more information, but for now, we don’t know just which character.
One of our sources was “pretty sure” it’s going to be Odin who bites the dust, but we’ve talked it over and they’re a “little less sure” now. I have that effect on people sometimes.
We’ll keep looking out and listening to rumblings. Stay tuned for whatever details we can turn up.

Accompanying the first official behind-the-scenes photo from the Marvel sequel, Empire magazine also interviewed the studio's longtime executive producer, Craig Kyle, about the much-anticipated Thor follow-up, The Dark World. Explaining how the film will help to redefine the CBM genre, Kyle also confirms its place within the shared universe's time frame, a previously rumored otherworldly race, besides the Dark Elves, and much more. Check out his comments and additional info below.“Like in Indiana Jones, while there's high stakes and high danger, there's always fun. We have to constantly redefine what a superhero film is or it'd just exhaust the audience. So Iron Man is the James Bond-y, classic, suave action hero; Captain America's the period piece; Hulk is the monster movie; Avengers the disaster movie; and Thor is the science-fiction epic.” After Marvel's The Avengers assembly especially, Kyle says that, “Expectations are high,” for Thor: The Dark World. “By bringing director Alan Taylor into the mix, with his expertise on The Sopranos, Mad Men and Game Of Thrones, we came up with a take that allows us to get more into the nooks and crannies of Asgard and its people. We spend more time on the ground with the commoners, as opposed to in the palace. It's a very complicated blend [of genres: high science fiction, gritty fantasy, and realism]. Thor is, until Guardians of the Galaxy hits, by far our most wild, fringe Marvel piece. But that's why it's the Marvel Universe and not Marvel Earth!”
Sometime during the interview, Craig Kyle informed Empire that Thor: The Dark World will pick-up one year after The Avengers events, and two years after the first Thor film. And at the sequel's start, we'll find Asgard battered by war and The Nine Realms beset “by rag-tag invaders known as The Maraunders,” who were pictured on the Bourne Wood set. And it's during this time that ancient Asgardian enemies the Dark Elves, led by Malekith and “wreathed in Gigeresque body armour,” return and wreak devastating revenge. Meanwhile, Thor, “now a full-time general,” will have some explaining to do when he finally reconnects with his Midgardian love interest, Jane Foster.
