Ah, so another DC Animated story where Batman saves the day? Never saw THAT before....
April 2, 2011: Warner Bros. Animation Announces "Justice League: Doom"
Bruce Timm told fans at the "Green Lantern: Emerald Knights" panel at WonderCon this weekend that the next Warner Bros. animated film would be titled "Justice League: Doom", and would be loosely inspired by the "Tower of Babel" storyline from the comics.
The script for the animated movie was the final work of Dwayne McDuffie. The original story was published in "Justice League of America #43-46" and was written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Howard Porter.
Batman's greatest rival, Ra's al Ghul continues his quest to save Earth from humanity by thinning the ranks of the human populace. But after being thwarted over and over again, Ra's seeks to distract Batman by stealing the bodies of his dead parents while he enacts his nefarious plot. And to insure that Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash and the rest of the JLA do not interfere with his plans, he individually defeats each of the heroes using strategies developed by Batman himself! And when the League learn of his betrayal, they look to expel the Dark Knight from their ranks.

You can't fault them for following the tastes of the market. Plus, that Justice League of America series is arguably where the "Batman is the greatest thing EVER" shit started.
Plus, the storyline itself is pretty good, you can argue how wrong Batman really was in developing those war games to take out the other Leaguers if push if ever truly came to shove, the fact that it's a Ra's al-Ghul story arc should serve as confirmation about a certain rumored plot point from TDKRises, etc. Honestly, there are a LOT worse Justice League of America stories you could adapt. I could actually see getting excited about this.
Not real big on Howard Porter's art though (at least not during this phase of his career). If they ran with a more Timm-oriented style or even something else, I'd be happy.
And yes, it's written by Mark Waid, who can almost do no wrong in my eyes.

"the fact that it's a Ra's al-Ghul story arc should serve as confirmation about a certain rumored plot point from TDKRises,"
Maybe not the right thread to post specifically about the next Batman film but since you raised that point, I might as well here. I know it's 'rumored' that Talia, the daughter, is gonna be seeking vengeance for her father's death, yada yada yada. Like I said before, I'm no expert on the Batman mythos. I could 'google' it, I know, but I really don't feel like all of that (sometimes that research is lengthy). But the point I wanna raise is, wasn't Ra's al-Ghul supposed to be immortal or something? In the comics I mean, not necessarily according to Nolan. So in Batman Begins, we see Batman not kill him, but not save him either, thus allowing the train to crash, thus 'killing' him, supposedly, but did you ever see a body there? I didn't. And since this is a comics film, maybe he survived? I guess my point is wouldn't we be surprised if LIAM NEESON makes a surprise appearance?! Maybe it'll end being more so the 'Dad' than the daughter? Who knows?! Just an interesting thought to point out.
I also wanna know if they're gonna rebuild Wayne Manor in the next film?

Yep. And Nolan fucked it up.non_amos wrote:But the point I wanna raise is, wasn't Ra's al-Ghul supposed to be immortal or something?
Let's cut the shit, Batman killed him.So in Batman Begins, we see Batman not kill him,
Probably because it was spaghetti by that point.but did you ever see a body there? I didn't.

Actually, 'Superman/Doomsday' might STILL be the #1 selling animated DVD that the Bros. Warner have put out.

They couldn't have picked a different story, where Batman ISN'T the "ultimate" hero in the end? It gets pretty annoying to see that all the time, especially when you consider WHO he somehow always seems to "trump".

Loved 'Birthright'.

Nathan Fillion, Tim Daly and Michael Rosenbaum Join an All-Star Cast for Justice League: Doom

Justice League: Doom
Here comes the Justice League! An all-star cast has been assembled to provide voices for the iconic team of superheroes in Justice League: Doom, the latest animated DVD-movie in Warner Home Video's series of DC Comics adaptations. Castle star Nathan Fillion will reprise the role of Green Lantern, which he first played in Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. He'll be joined by Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy, the longtime voices for Superman and Batman, respectively. Rounding out the cast are several of Conroy's old costars from Cartoon Network's 2001-06 Justice League series (known as Justice League Unlimited in later seasons): Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum as the Flash, Alias alum Carl Lumbly as Martian Manhunter and veteran voice actress Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman. Cyborg, a character not seen on Justice League, joins the group for this movie and will be played by Bumper Robinson (The Game).
The movie, due to be released in early 2012 on DVD, Blu-ray, digital download and on-demand, is based on the popular DC storyline JLA: Tower of Babel, written by Mark Waid. The plot: Batman's secret contingency plans to defeat his own teammates (should any of them go rogue) are stolen and put into action by a group of super villains.
Once again running the show behind the scenes is executive producer Bruce Timm, the man responsible for dozens of beloved animated superhero projects, including the original Justice League. Lauren Montgomery, a veteran of several animated movies in this series, including the upcoming Batman: Year One, is the director. The script was written by acclaimed animation/comic book writer Dwayne McDuffie, who passed away earlier this year.
A trailer for Justice League: Doom will premiere at New York Comic Con on Friday, Oct. 14, and is featured on the Batman: Year One DVD, which goes on sale Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Can't knock the voice talent too much. I'd have preferred Newbern as Superman though. Tim Daly always sounds like he's reading the lines cold everytime he voices Superman; may not be the case but it's sure as hell what it sounds like.

His Clark was just fine, but his Superman wasn't "authoritative" enough for me. Not to say he was horrible though. I enjoy TAS very much, still to this day.

Re: 'Justice League: Doom' Animated Film
Anybody else seen this? Once again, it's an example of this hard on WB and DC have for Batman. Admittedly, there's a sense in which he's arguably the antagonist of this bad boy so perhaps he deserves such prominent billing... but does anybody really doubt the storyline's heavy emphasis on Batman was one major reason it was selected for adaptation in the first place? Would we really be seeing this movie if the majority of the film's conflict derived from something Superman, Green Lantern or the Flash did? I doubt it.

Re: 'Justice League: Doom' Animated Film
I watched this last night, and I have to say it is probably one of the weaker animated films the Bros. Warner has put out. Not 'Braniac Attacks' weak, but not 'Under The Red Hood' or 'Crisis On Two Earths' good either.
The animation wasn't very consistent at all. Pay attention to Superman, and see what I mean. Sometimes it looks like Superman from 'Young Justice', other times he looked like he was gaining/losing weight from scene to scene. Very distracting. Cyborg didn't look very good either. The story was ok, but things just seemed to move along VERY fast. How Superman is incapacitated is exactly the same as what we saw in 'Public Enemies', which was kind of lame. Batman saving the day, again, was also very lame. I'm sure that's how it went down in the book it is based off of, but still. Enough is enough.
Rent it, don't buy it.
