No interest in this whatsoever.

Iron Man ripoff suit just seals the deal:

This Is What A 21st Century ROBOCOP Looks Like!

Robocra....Er, 'Robocop' Remake Robocopnew

Beaks here...

No, these aren't pics from the set of G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. This, per ComingSoon.net, is it. This is our new ROBOCOP.

I've heard both good and bad on the script, so I'm not giving up on the remake just yet. Though I'm not a fan of his ELITE SQUAD movies, I do think Jose Padilha has it in him to make a solid action flick (his best film is his debut, BUS 174). So Robocop looks a little bit Snake Eyes and a little bit Batman. It's a disappointingly lazy design, but maybe all the imagination went into every other aspect of the production? I'm trying to stay positive here, folks!

The ROBOCOP remake is currently scheduled to hit theaters on August 9, 2013.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. He looks like a Power Ranger knock off. No wait, he reminds me of this.

It's that awful rubber look. The suit doesn't look like a machine, it looks like a painted rubber suit.

Worst part is that the suit makes him too much like a man in a suit. In the original he actually looked like a robot because of the odd way the suit was structured to give it an unnatural look. This new "RoboCop" looks like a knockoff of various cyborg ninjas.

Like the new TOTAL RECALL, I expect this one to tank.

Personally I expected better than this! Plus, I actually had high hopes for this film and now those hopes had just went down the crapper!

First they disregard retaining key characters like Officer Ann Lewis (Alex Murphy's/Robocop's partner), Sergeant Warren Reed (Chief of the Detroit Police Department), Dick Jones (The corrupt employee of OCP), Clarence J. Boddicker (Gang leader & murderous criminal who killed Alex Murphy) and The Old Man (CEO of OCP) yet for some reason kept Alex Murphy in the picture but then again he is the one who'll eventually becomes the title character and now they come up with a design for Robocop that hasn't even come close of being recognizable.

And I don't think I need to remind anyone that according to the set photos he looks more like this...

Robocra....Er, 'Robocop' Remake Roboco10

Which we all thought that he wouldn't!

Instead of something like this...

Robocra....Er, 'Robocop' Remake Roboco11

Which I for one rather prefer since this design actually screams out Robocop!

As for the cast and film itself. A lot of what I heard sounds very good. So if footage looks good I will probably see it. As for the first set photos ya not feeling the design. Wish it was more silver. But on other hand its been mentioned he has multi forms in this film. So I hope other suits are better looking. Cbmf actually ann lewis charactr is in the film. Turned into a male this time. The police chief is in the film and is being played by some lady. Reports have said a boddick character is in the film. And the old man is being played by michael keaton. As for suit I too thought it be a more sleaker look from original like Iron man a bit. Since how well ed 209 looks but ya this suit what ever it is not a good design.

Another thougght I had what if this isn't the film's robo suit. But since its set in the future 2029. That maybe this is detroit currrent police uniform/swat type of suit. Murphy haas before he is turned into robo. That is what I like to see happen. But know well this is probably one of the many robo suits for the film.

You know, some of the morons "defending" this shitty suit design are saying things like "mabe dey gunna seeegeeeye udder stiff onna suit n mabe it looked butter den??". But here's the problem with this "thinking":

Do YOU see ANY blue or green mocap areas on that shitty IronBatCop suit that would represent where any CGI would be added?

I know I sure as fuck don't.

This. I don't understand why the gushers don't understand. Robocop isn't Iron Man. He's not wearing a suit. He doesn't have, say, legs. His limbs have been replaced with cybernetic extensions. He has completely robotic arms. There's no flesh in there to speak of. No bone, no muscle, nothing but circuits, wires and servos. He doesn't have a "chest" as such; it's a polished steel housing for wtf machinery underneath. What makes the original Robocop work for me is that clunky look. It looks like he's 99.99% machine.

Indeed. But let's run with the premise anyway. If the intention is to add other shit later in post... why? Why not just build the suit you want to have for principal photography? CGI stuff is one thing for an effect thing like taking the gun out of his thigh, I guess. But his basic appearance could be just as easily and at least as cheaply done using traditional and practical methods, and skipping CGI/mo-cap shit. Those nimrods are making a self-defeating argument.

As for the filmmakers, I can understand not wanting to use the original Robocop design. I'd argue it makes sense considering this is a remake/reboot. But why in the hell they chose this design is completely beyond me.

I have a feeling these weren't "spy pics" in the actual sense. I have a feeling, with the story about the director feeling "bullied" by the studio, that this was an INTENTIONAL leak. I mean, look how close the guy was, and how clear the photos are.

What better way to get things changed than to have the interwebs blast your product a year or so before it even comes out?

To play devil's advocate, does that work anymore? Fifteen years ago, a pic leaking on the web and "fans" turning on you might be a death warrant but now it's par for the course for a lot of movies.

Something else. Not that I know the details of the studio bullying the director but isn't that also par for the course for big studio movies? You're hired to shoot a product. It's how things go. Expect lots of oversight and lots of notes. It's like anything, you can pick the battles worth fighting. Whining and crying about it won't help matters. But whatever.

Quite amazing that in this day and age when we have CGI and such, the RoboCop from the 1987 film looks a lot more advanced and powerful than the new one. What really turns me off is that it actually looks like a plastic suit, the old one looks much more intimidating.

I have two words for you:

'Total Recall'

Production Budget: $125 million
Domestic: $58,074,625
Foreign: $114,142,385
Worldwide: $172,217,010

And if that isn't enough, have you heard about that 'Ninja Turtles' debacle, where the script was leaked online and the film was pushed back indefinitely due to the reaction?

Remakes are a tricky thing, and people are starting to show the disinterest most of them deserve. They DO NOT want a potential 'Recall' on their hands.

And if they do nothing now, that is EXACTLY what they will have.

Ap like I mentioned in my original post its been said in the script leaks he has multi suits. That is why I still hope his other modes suits look better then this first image. Though if this is the normal mode look, I do agree they shouldn't have gone all black. Abs/legs/hands should been black, and rest silver. Would probably look a lot better. So that is why I have a little hope his other modes do look better. But as other reboots we have seen some haven't turned out well, and others somewhat ok. So I do wish the studio success, and if the trailers/future set photos so some good things I probably will see it at some point.

One problem with current remakes is that they're remaking films way before they should be remade. They're pretty much taking 80's films & doing new versions. Look how NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET turned out. Robert Englund gave birth to a multi-film franchise. Then they try to 'reboot' with Jackie Earle Haley. Now Haley made an awesome Rorshach but left something to be desired as Freddy Kreuger. But Englund is what made the franchise in the first place, his 'wit & humor' if you will. Haley's version was just some pervert who you wanted to see burn alive! The reboot also focused too much I think on the molestation angle which probably wasn't a good idea & Haley also failed to have Englund's 'wit'. So you end up with a questionable product.

The FRIDAY THE 13TH remake was better but that was mainly due to Jared Padelecki having the lead role against fighting Jason but Jason himself left you wanting. But the MY BLOODY VALENTINE reboot rocked! It had Jensen Ackles in the lead role & was actually a sequel of sorts to the original film since it referred back to the original continuity.

As for ROBOCOP, I have seen the original film but it's been a while. I can say I liked that take though. From what I'm reading about this reboot, I'm just not so sure. I expect it to be another TOTAL RECALL which was just fine with Ahnuld thank you!

Robocra....Er, 'Robocop' Remake Empty Re: Robocra....Er, 'Robocop' Remake

Post  Comicbookfan-V2 Mon Nov 19, 2012 8:45 am

Just recently MGM studios release some new concepts which is said to be possible visuals that will be featured in the movie and one of which is a concept of what seem to be a first version of Robocop's armor. Oddly enough, the first version armor has a strong resemblance to the original infact it looked pretty much like a updated version of the original which is what the suit should look like throughout the film and what we're suppose to be seeing in the set photos that we were treated with! Since this is suppose to be the first version armor we can expect that Robo will be upgrading to three other armor versions which can be assume that one of them could be the black suit that we see Joel Kinnaman sporting in the set photos according to a leak script.

Here's the concept for Robocop 0.1...

Robocra....Er, 'Robocop' Remake New_ro10

I dare someone to look at this and say this doesn't scream out Robocop! Aleast in this one he actually looks more robotic & metallic along with looking like something that any form of ammunition will be useless against which is the impression you don't get from a black rubber looking suit.

But what I find ridiculous if not stupid even is that they would actually start off with something that evolves from being advance looking to looking more inferior instead of it being the other way around. I mean seriously, what the hell???

And this is just the tip of the ice berg here people!

I'll say it- that concept art? Doesn't scream Robocop to me.

Look, if you MUST remake this movie (and really, WHY?), it makes sense to take advantage of technology Verhoeven and co. didn't have access to way back when. They did the best they could and they succeeded admirably but you could take certain concepts further now with modern effects technology. Instead, we have a guy in a suit that looks more like a guy in a suit than the last version. You could use CGI and come up with subtler effects that sell the reality of this guy being mostly machine. I don't mean turning him into Inspector fucking Gadget but putting servos in his arms and legs, giving a realistic machine appearance to his limbs, etc.

I'm doing a shit job of explaining it because I'm tired but the bottom line here is (A) that concept art is obviously not what we're getting in the movie and (B) I've seen nothing to make me believe this won't be an Iron Man knockoff trading on a better film's name.

Since this hasn't been posted yet here's the exclusive trailer for the upcoming Rubberco... Duh a mean "Robocop" remake!

So far it's not too shabby but still doesn't raise my hopes up although I kind of wish that his traditional silver & black armor was his final upgrade and not that jet black rubber looking one just looks awkward!

Looks like the original configuration for Robocop in the movie is similar to the original... which they intentionally turn away from and come up with something looks more modern. And more shitty.

Part of me likes how they seem to be playing with expectations. Alex Murphy is blown up rather than shot to pieces. But at the same time they seem to want to turn this into just another action movie rather than tackle the ideas and philosophies of the first one.

I dunno. Doesn't seem like something I'd be too interested in. If someone else buys my ticket, I guess I'd see it but otherwise there are better things to spend money on.
