'Skyfall'- New James Bond Film

True. The reason the series hadn't had a director make consecutive Bond films since LICENCE TO KILL is because all of them declined to return. Martin Campbell only returned for CASINO ROYALE because he liked that EON was taking a very different direction from the Brosnan films.

I'm interested in how the dynamic plays out between Bond and Q. Looking at Bond's expression, it looks like the return to how Connery's Bond looking bored in the Q scenes because he felt he never needed the gadgets.

I know I can't wait to see how this q will be played out and his dynamic with bond. Nov can't come any sooner.

Also, now that Nolan's finished with Batman stuff, I wonder if he'll get a chance for a Bond movie.

As last I read it should not be craigs last eon producers are hoping at least two maybe 3 more out of him. As for nolan we I believe talked about this before I doubt nolan would work under eon control. Compared to his free reign he has had on his own movies. Though I wouldn't mind seeing him do bond. I just doubt it would happen any time soon.

And I get that but the thing is that James Bond is a huge icon. In terms of cinema, he probably eclipses even Batman. You do a Bond movie, odds are you're going to have to contend with a lot of notes and direction. Push comes to shove, I'd think all that's really off the table is permanently marrying Bond, killing him, somehow ending the story or other stuff. The studio wants to keep the thing going. And that's not too much for them to ask for.

Daniel Craig has stated that he's enthusiastic about continuing the Bond role well beyond SKYFALL and the producers especially have been more than enthusiastic, one of them even hoping he could beat Roger Moore's seven film record. All Bond actors since Roger Moore have signed contracts that locked them in for three films with an optional fourth. Once Craig finishes his fourth, it's up to the studio on whether they want to pay up to get Craig back for each new film. Same thing happened with Roger Moore, who is the only Bond actor who returned after finishing his contract.

As for Nolan, again if he really wants to do a Bond film it's obvious he'll only be given a certain amount of control over the project. He probably knows that well, given he's a Bond fan, so we'll see how that plays out. EON is very protective of the Bond brand but at the same time they're very open to what a filmmakers brings to the table as long as they believe it's true to the series.

Ya know what, good on him. With these types of movies, I really appreciate an actor being openly enthusiastic about continuing on in a part. If you go back far enough, you'll find interviews with Chris Reeve where he sounded almost relieved to be done with his Superman contract after Superman III.

I defer to your more extensive knowledge about all things Bond but I would hope that they recognize the value in taking risks. I personally never thought we'd see such a drastic reinvention of what the Bond films are all about as Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace gave us. Nolan has marquee value (always a good thing) and I'd be interested to see what he'd do with a Bond film.

If they continue taking the route they started with CASINO ROYALE, Nolan might be suitable enough for it and I think having him and Craig work together might bring some good work. My only concern is that he should put a bit more flair in his work for Bond if he were to get the job. I would have ruled him out before seeing TDKR, but he's gotten points for bringing in Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard, after the first two gave us Katie Homely and ET Gyllenhal.

Assuming they keep up with the every two years method, that means Craig's fifth Bond film will potentially be released in 2016 at the earliest, ending his tenure on the 10th anniversary of CASINO ROYALE. If all goes planned, EON then signs up a new actor will debut in a 2018 or 2019 release date.

But I guess we'll see how this all plays out post-SKYFALL, at least EON seems to be preparing for that if the script contracting deals are anything to go by.

Saw that news great to hear craig is signed on for a few more. Was hoping he get a 5 pic deal. Now I just hope 4th and 5th don't take forever to get to production.
