John Wayne? Seriously? I don't question the guy's manhood but he's just not Superman. Gregory Peck in To Kill A Mockingbird definitely had a bit of a Clark Kent look going.

I would have gone with The King, if it was me:
I mean, John Wayne? Really?

I could see wayne just cause he was a big deal then. But as the character itself agree he wouldn't have been right. Elvis would have been an interesting choice. Though would he have done a movie like this back in his acting days. Qwe probably would have also seen someone like james dean, and other top guys like him if a film happpened then.

Re: Alternate Universe Superman Poster
Although not about Superman directly but related, I know years ago I'd look at Yul Brynner in those old movies & it was like the incarnation of the perfect casting for LEX LUTHOR. He had the look in spades, even more so than Telly Savalas, who was another actor that people would propose for the character. The guy could also act. I don't know if you ever watched THE TEN COMMANDMENTS with Charlton Heston but he was the villainous Pharoah opposite Heston's Moses. You could say he owned the role. I'm aware that he's been dead now for some time but had they done such a Superman film back then, then he's who I'd have gone with for Luthor. Hands down!

Wayne was a "big deal then"? Are you implying Elvis FREAKING Presley somehow wasn't?
I sincerely hope not.

Alex Ross' Captain Marvel Jr. design for 'Kingdom Come':
Elvis winning "One of America's 10 Outstanding Young Men" Jaycee Award:
"When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen," said Elvis at the podium, to a crowd of two thousand.
"I was a dreamer... I read comic books, and I was the hero of the comic book.
I saw movies, and I was the hero in the movie.
So every dream that I've dreamed has come true a hundred times..."
That answer your question?

Web, it'd surprise you some of the celebrities who are big into comics & they're not all named Nic Cage. Gene Simmons to this day is a HUGE comics fan. But I wouldn't want him playing Superman that's for certain. It is good though to hear celebrities praise comicdom rather than ridicule it like some do. Can you hear me Josh Hartnett? Tom Hardly?

And as far as "All-American" goes, Elvis did TWO YEARS in the Army, right in the beginning of his "reign", and didn't take the easy way out.
Can John Wayne say the same?
