Teaser poster ideas
I decided to make this thread into a teaser poster idea thread where members can post ideas or inspirations for a teaser poster until we actually get one and here's one of them, this is a fanart poster for the new MOS film and it actually looks good enough to be use as an official one! My compliments to the artist who made it!!!
Check it out...

Re: Teaser poster ideas
Too much of an homage to Donner’s 1978 poster in my opinion, but the work itself very good.

Re: Teaser poster ideas
*sigh*
The poster needs to break the hell away from the stuff that's come before. It needs to be iconic and eye-catching. I've always liked this cover. This might not be a bad direction to go in, esp for a REBOOT THAT ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE IN ANY WAY DEPENDENT ON WHAT'S COME BEFORE.

Bryan Singer would probably say that it needs more pleather... which means it's perfect just the way it is.Apologist Puncher wrote:Or this pose:

I just love the way Alex Ross depicts him, so iconic, so powerful, so intimidating....
Brings a tear to my eye remembering him back when he was SUPERMAN...

Alex Ross DEFINITELY has a lot of shots that are "poster worthy".

Re: Teaser poster ideas
That is a good looking one, I just think Ross has this "real" look to his drawings...I mean that do not look like they belong in a "comic"....

So you want your comics to look like Wayne Boring drew them? I guess it is just a matter of individual tastes. I grew up with Curt Swan mainly and I do like how he used to draw them, yes I know that the inkers are important too, but I have come to appreciate how much detail and realism and love Ross puts into his panels and what drew me back into the comics after I left them before all the reboot mania of the 80's, no I am not a John Byrne fan! I have come to enjoy Dan Jergens and George Perez work too, but none of the contemporaries really do it for me, sadly...

Re: Teaser poster ideas
Not so much Wayne Boring. But comics are at their best when they skew reality rather than reflect it. That goes for DC anyway. DC is larger than life. MYTH. Alex Ross changes the focus and makes that too realistic. I don't think it serves the material very well.Rduce wrote:thecolorsblend wrote:Thus my major gripe with them, actually.Rduce wrote:That is a good looking one, I just think Ross has this "real" look to his drawings...I mean that do not look like they belong in a "comic"....

But the other thing is that I'm just not impressed with him as an artist. Yeah, his style is certainly interesting but he has little or no command of storytelling, pacing, composition or many other tools of the trade. This is absolute speculation on my part but I've long thought that Curt Swan would openly sneer and scoff at the work of Alex Ross.

Here's the thing about Alex Ross though, that you might not be taking into consideration:
Alex Ross is an extremely talented painter who just happens to love comic book characters. Superman more than any other.
I don't think he likes the "rigidness" of comic book making, which explains his very low output on a regular book. Covers? No problem, since they are just a single image. But doing a monthly book I don't see as something he is interested in unless he has TOTAL control. He had issues with Marvel after 'Marvels', and had issues with DC after they crapped-out a sub-par 'Kingdom Come' sequel.
And sorry, no one in comic books past or present can "sneer and scoff" at Alex Ross's work. The guy can make his mark doing ANYTHING, and he chose to do it using funny book superheroes.
