You know, I'm kind getting more interested in this now. I thought they were going for a more "muted" green in the movie. Almost booger-green. But it looks more vibrant in that clip, and I'm liking it.

i know it great to finally have video footage from the film. i know some are probably complaining about the cgi in the film. But i think it looks just fine right now. Plus really we got 8 or so months to release the sfx is going to be touched up alot. So in the end it will probably look ten times better then now.

My only real gripe is Hal Jordan himself. I wish they would've gone with a different Green Lantern. And, really, this character seems more like Hal In Name Only. Honestly, I can't picture Hal ever saying half the shit he did in that trailer. As far as characterization, he seems more like Kyle, with a few Guy'isms thrown in for good measure.

Which only begs the question of why in the hell they're using Hal to begin with but I repeat myself.

Anyway. Looks cool.

i dont see the problem starting with hal. its best in my book to start with one of the first earth lanterns. Then making it like john/kyle/guy and mix matching others backstory/history into a composite gl. As for being in name only or just humor. The ET footage was just one little look at things. I am sure the film isnt just all out humor from ryan. But we will have to see.

But for Geoff Johns' bullshit retcons, Jordan doesn't usually say things like that. Read basically anything from the pre-Johns era and see for yourself.

Based on what? Seriously. SERIOUSLY. What benefit is there in putting Hal Jordan into a GL movie? The only way to make him interesting is to change his character. And if you're going to go to all that trouble, why not use one of the other GL characters and save us all the grief?

The John Stewart we saw in the Mosaic GL comics could've been a neat character to start with. The JLU version of Stewart, though different from the Mosaic version, could carry a film. Guy Gardner would've been a crowd pleaser. Kyle Rayner, the every man, would've been a character for the audience to relate to. Any one of them would've been a better choice for the GL movie. To adapt any of them for a film, all you'd have to do is maybe change their histories. The characters themselves need nothing added and nothing taken away to keep audiences entertained. As the GL movie seems to handily demonstrate thus far, the only way to make Hal Jordan work for a film is to impose someone else's personality onto him.

well i am sure the other earth lanterns will probably be in the film series over time. Or even be mentioned within this film to forshadow that they are coming. Now sure i dont know alot on gl comics myself. But i am sure they looked at more then just johns stuff on hal. They likely treated everything well. As for being to much humor, sure the clip there seemed to have alot. Also that ryan is more known for his funny stuff. But he can do serious stuff too. Which i am sure there is a balance in the film of both humor and drama/serious tone stuff. Usually these things like on et or like mtv is catering to a certain demographic plus it was only 30 seconds. So i think its hard to judge the whole film on just a tiny snipit. Hopefully the film will treat the characters right and be good for the character.

Though colors I under stand your views and thoughts on characters. We all have our fav character. Or in the case like gl or flash fav person who held the mantle. I personally don't have any favorism to any of the title holders. But I do know from what little info/knowledge I know of them all. They each have there positive and negative traits. I said this on other boards before in the case of flash and gl it is tough call whcih character to use. Which one desverses to be adapted to screen. This is why I sorta like supes/bats/spidey since for the most part only one holding the mantle. But I do say all flashs/gl should have the chance to be used. That is why I rather have each be separate charzcters. So they can use and adapt the character and his traits. So then like for example flash in jl/sv/live action show doesn't end up just a composite of multi ones. For gl/hal film wise I guess we will just have to see how it all plays out. Hopefully it will be good.
