RE:Press release on start of filming
Saw that same article earlier today at SHH. Anyway, looking at the comments, I found one that sums up in just a few words the apprehension concerning this film, as told by 'Larry Potter':
He misspelled 'recognizable' but if you can overlook that, it's a basic point made in just a few words. Less obvious 'big-name' actors & even worse, less obvious villains! I hope Nolan knows what he's doing here. The RIDDLER was the popular choice to go with & I'd have even taken the PENGUIN. Instead we get CATWOMAN, which could be good, or it may just be 'eye candy'. But the hulking 200-lb. BANE is the choice that really takes the cake! Trying to shoot yourself in the foot, Nolan, eh?!

The cast still seems like it’s incomplete and smaller compared to the first two films. It feels like it's missing more recognisables actors and key characters.

There is an image posted here but I haven't yet succeeded in uploading images here, yet Youtube worked. Go figure. Anyway, someone please upload this image of the HULKING 200 POUND BANE. Man, I guess they're NOT gonna use CGI! We are really in for a treat!

It sure is an interesting/strange look for bane. But as I said before wonder how character wise he will be?

Looks nothing at all like Bane... which is some Nolan Nazi's cue to say "but Nolan is getting the ESSENCE of the character right and THAT is what counts."
Actually no, douchenuts, that's not the only thing that counts. The fucker looks NOTHING like he did in the comics. If you're going to invent your own character, go for it; just remember to invent a name for him too.

I'll go ahead & predict EPIC FAIL for this film. Oh sure, it'll probably do decent box office but it will not even remotely approach the total sales for TDK. I think too that some of the fanbase will likely say, 'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH' when it comes to Nolan butchering the franchise. Realism to a point? Maybe. But take it too far? Absurd! Do you 'throw out the baby with the bathwater' or whatever the phrase is? I just hope this 'ultra-realism' doesn't RUIN the SUPERMAN reboot. After all, Snyder did say that his film 'will be the most realistic he's ever done'!

Re: Press release on start of filming
Ya its an odd bane look for sure. As for superman really i dont see them taking superman as ultra realistic as nolan's batman. But i guess we wont know to we get filming under way.

Nah, if they wanted a "realistic" director, they wouldn't have hired Zack Snyder.

Re: Press release on start of filming
Ya i agree ap too, and i really think when synder said most realistic film he done was more about how he was more doing green/blue screen filming styles and doing superman with more real stunts/locations and phsyical filming and all that.

Re: Press release on start of filming
I don't predict box office anymore (I think I speculated $300'ish mill domestic for Singerman based purely on association and about the same for TDK; look how wrong I was on BOTH counts) but I think anybody who expects TDKRises to pull anything even remotely beginning to resemble something that could be mistaken for TDK numbers should have his head checked. It's that simple.non_amos wrote:I'll go ahead & predict EPIC FAIL for this film. Oh sure, it'll probably do decent box office but it will not even remotely approach the total sales for TDK. As for realism...
VERY good point, actually. I think Snyder said it would be the most realistic film he's ever directed and I think he went on to refer to somewhat more believable physics and whatnot. That need not exclude supervillains though (as Donner's version would've), which is a huge relief because a "realistic Superman" is stuck with jobs that are anything BUT a job for Superman.Apologist Puncher wrote:Nah, if they wanted a "realistic" director, they wouldn't have hired Zack Snyder.

Re: Press release on start of filming
I think it's possible the film could even FAIL, or at least, as far as the media is concerned, it'll be deemed a failure in comparison to TDK. I can already picture it. Opening weekend you'll see the various 'B.O. sites' citing something like, "The Dark Knight Rises earned 'x' amount of dollars on 'x' amount of screens with foreign screenings earning 'x' amount for a world-wide total of 'X'. However, that's down 'x' amount from the opening weekend of 'TDK' 4 years ago which earned 150+ million dollars & closed with gazillions of dollars. At this rate 'TDKR' will likely finish with only 'x' amount for opening weekend, down 'x%' from 4 years previous." Or some such crapola. Some will go on to speculate that TDK profited from Heath Ledger's death AKA 'the ELVIS syndrome'. DUH! Ya think?! Anyway, the underlying insinuation will be that 'TDKR' will have failed in comparison to 'TDK', even if the film is actually good. Man, you just gotta love the Internets, don't ya?!

Re: Press release on start of filming
Well I'll admit I'm not too impress with the first photo myself but then again neither I was at the time they release the first photo of Heath Ledger as the Joker but later after seeing more photos of him and seeing him portray the role in TDK I was forever convince that Ledger's role as the Joker was top notch. The same can be said about Tom Hardy as Bane in a year to come although for now it may seem unlikely at this point but it's best to wait and see how will this all play out since seeing is worth believeing.

I'm not. And will never be. The character Ledger played is many things, but he ain't the Joker.Comicbookfan-V2 wrote:Well I'll admit I'm not too impress with the first photo myself but then again neither I was at the time they release the first photo of Heath Ledger as the Joker but later after seeing more photos of him and seeing him portray the role in TDK I was forever convince that Ledger's role as the Joker was top notch.
If by "updated" you mean "changed to resemble his mask from the comics", yeahs, I'lls agrees withs yous.Apologist Puncher wrote:No, I think that the Bane mask needs to be "updated" from that. And I thinks a lots of peoples wills agrees with mes.

Costume, mask, or not, how can this be believable when we're getting THE HULKING 200-POUND BANE?!

I know I would run away from a 5'9 guy in a pseudo-Scorpion mask if he looked really pissed-off.
I mean, he might head-butt me in the chest or something.....

Heh-heh! Yeah, Ray Mysterio is no doubt more formidable than this. Hey, but at least he's Mexican, which I understand that Bane is supposed to be?

He's supposed to be from somewhere in Latin America, that much I know.
This Bane will probably be from South Africa or something.

^ Yep, that's basically it.
I just can't wait for some crazed Nolan fan to make every conceivable excuse for the inevitable bastardization this thing is going to be. They're not quite as bad as the Apologists, perhaps, but in their own way they're just as annoying.
