No Zod In Reboot?

I kind of figured they wouldn't make the same mistake twice, and apparently I was right.

It looks like General Zod may remain in the Phantom Zone, at least for the time being.

At a recent roundtable discussion in Rome with recently announced Superman director Zack Snyder, BadTaste.it had a chance to ask the Legend of the Guardians director and producer about the new installment of Superman:

BadTaste.it: You were recently chosen as the director of Superman. What have you done to defeat other talented directors and what are you planning to do with this new version?
Snyder: I'm not sure what I've done, it wasn't like a run race, which would have been easier to do. Anyway, I think that you have to do your best to describe this world and that the character of Superman needs to be relevant again, without disrespecting his mythology. That's my goal.

BadTaste.it: The general Zod will be the villain of the movie or it's just a rumor?
Snyder: For now it's just a rumor.

Hopefully this news will open the door to a villian we have not yet seen in a Superman movie such as Brainiac, Darkseid or Doomsday.

Brainiac would be fine, but Darkseid or Doomsday? Nah, not for a possible stand-alone film. Metallo would be perfect, if done right.

Really though, who knows at this point what they are doing besides the Bros. Warner, Nolan, Goyer and Snyder?

I enjoyed "Watchmen" tbh. So I've still got my fingers crossed

Watchmen isn't as bad as people like to make it out to be. The Dawn of the Dead remake was good, and 300 is 300.

I won't know which way I am leaning until the first person is cast. Until then, I'm as "neutral" as a person can be....

personally i hope they dont use zod either. i like the character and all. but if this does end up being wb's last shot for a film bearing any issues that could come in 2013 with new court rulings and all. i rather have a foe we havent seen on film yet like metallo, brainiac, proper modern lex luthor(in secondary role) and others.

If we must have Lex again, I'd like to see the actual Lex from the comics for once. The corporate Lex has been done a helluva lot with STAS, L&C and SV. But the Pre-Crisis renegade scientist version has technically never been done in live action. At least not since one of the Kirk Alyn serials. Sixty years ago.

But for villains, Superman's still got some decent ones- Livewire, Metallo, Bizarro, the Eradicator, Mongul and Warworld, etc. Lots of possibilities.

Totally for me I still gunning for brainiac or metallo those two are ones I want the most. But there is still many foes who could be a great film character. Plus with nolan did with the bat foes he used, I wouldn't mind to see some human foes get used used even in a minor role. As for lex def needs to be used. But come on def need to be the corp take for one. But u can have him be genius/ sciencist background to flesh him out.
