Sylvester Stallone to do Rambo 5
Sylvester Stallone says the Vietnam Veteran will 'go out in a blaze of glory' in Rambo 5 as he takes on Mexico's drug lords.

Sylvester Stallone says, at the age of 65, he is ready to don his jungle gear again and star in Rambo 5.

The actor says he is working on a script that will see the former Vietnam veteran fighting his final battle.

In an interview with MTV, Stallone hinted that the veteran mercenary’s last showdown could take place in Mexico, in a battle against the drug cartels.

He claimed Rambo’s “destiny” was “to go out in a blaze of glory”.

Stallone first played Rambo in 1982 and made three sequels – the last of which was released in 2008. He added: "It's one thing where you lay down the final culmination of your life where you can articulate it, but also act on it where he realises what his destiny really is. It's not to be a farmer, it's not to be obscure - it's to go out in a blaze of glory in a heroic fashion ... That's who he is.

Stallone, who recently finished filming Expendables 2, added: "I like the whole Mexican situation, what's going on down there. So I'm working on a formula for it right now."

When filming First Blood, Stallone is alleged to have violently clashed with the director, Ted Kotcheff, at one point breaking three of his ribs. And he objected so vehemently to the original ending where Rambo committed suicide, he was sued by the studio to ensure he would return to the set and film it. 'After the first screening in Las Vegas, I went out into the alley and threw up. It was all wrong. Artistically totally correct. Emotionally totally wrong.’ The ending was reshot with Rambo getting to live. 'That’s the difference. It’s not naturalism. It’s dramatic realism. The films are realistic fantasies. Bullets are easy. You can buy ’em. Emotions are not. They’re priceless.’
Asked in 2010 whether he would he want to do another Rambo, Stallone replied: "God, no. There’s nothing left to kill!". Step forward the Mexican drug lords.

Did not know that about 'First Blood'. I should look into it...

When it came out in the news that Stallone was doing Rocky Balboa, I was at least as cynical as anybody. Maybe more than most. "Dude, let it the fuck go already. It was a good thing, it ran its course, show's over."

Obviously then Rocky Balboa, the final product, made me feel like a real chump.

So, having seen the error of discounting Stallone, I refuse to make that mistake this time.

I wish I could. But I can't. It's one of those movies I just never got around to.

Believe it or not, I've seen it. I first saw it online in DVD quality (of course), even saved it, but I liked it enough to buy it anyway. I'm fairly certain I bought it used but I still bought it. Should I do a spoiler alert here?

Spoiler:
There's a scene near the end of the film where Rambo sets off an explosion & runs for it but the explosion is so awesome it almost reminds me of a nuke! Of course it couldn't have been a nuke because no one could've run fast enough! But loved it! cheers

I just wish it had done better box office. Without looking it up, I recall that the budget wasn't really very much but the box office wasn't either. I guess though that there's no accounting for Joe Public's taste. Rolling Eyes

Spoiler:
It was actually an explosion from a Tall Boy Bomb from WWII.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tallboy_(bomb)

"The Tallboy or Bomb, Medium Capacity, 12,000 lb, was an earthquake bomb developed by the British aeronautical engineer Barnes Wallis and deployed by the RAF in 1944. It weighed five tons and, carried by the Avro Lancaster, was effective against hardened structures against which earlier, smaller bombs had proven ineffective."

'Rambo'
Production Budget: $50 million
Domestic: $42,754,105
Foreign: $70,490,185
Worldwide:$113,244,290

There was and is rumors floating around that teenagers were buying tickets to that shit-heap 'Meet The Spartans', and sneaking over to see 'Rambo'. They even talk about it in the extras on the DVD.

So people wanted to see it, they just couldn't buy tickets for it.
