A "Gift" For the Apologists
I drew this a few months back, in anticipation of the actor being cast in the reboot. Enjoy!

In the same spirit of this pic, I found a copy of Mad Magazine I had bought back in '06. Here's what the cover looks like:
And what's funny is, the little "spoof" inside addressed almost all the issues we have with that film.
Singerman Peeps sucked.

What I thought was kinda funny is that MAD usually does their own version of a superhero costume. They''ll use the movie version, don't get me wrong, but they'll put a MAD spin on it.Apologist Puncher wrote:And what's funny is, the little "spoof" inside addressed almost all the issues we have with that film.

This time? Except for the "A" emblem, that's basically the Singerman costume on the cover. Someone at MAD wisely understood that parody/criticism is best served in this case by simply following the movie with minimal deviation. In the context of a spiteful parody, I can think of no better criticism than leaving the Singerman bikini mostly unaltered.
Don't know how things shook out in the issue proper but that cover... man oh man...

Here's an exchange from the parody inside, which I think sums it all up:
"That's not ice. It's crystal! We are at the Fortress of Solitude!""Fortress of Solitude... I have a feeling that's what they're going to call theaters showing this film once word of mouth is out!"
