The Dark Knight Rises Wraps!
by SuperHeroHype
November 14, 2011

It's been 179 days since The Dark Knight Rises officially announced the start of production (though filming actually began a little earlier in India). Now, actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt has announced, via his hitrecordjoe Tumblr, that filming is officially complete.

In addition to India, the international shoot took place in England and Scotland and in the United States in Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, New York and New Jersey.

Set to end Christopher Nolan's take on the Batman franchise, The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis, Josh Stewart, Christopher Judge, Adam Rodriguez and Rob Brown.

It is set for release on July 20, 2012 with a six-minute preview planned to hit theaters next month with the IMAX release of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol on December 16th.

So it's a wrap, the Hulking 190-lb. Bane & all! So whatever will be, will be. Now does this mean there will still be plenty of post work or is the film entirely finished? Obviously they've finished shooting. Like I said, whatever will be, will be. Rolling Eyes

Actually, I believe Tom Hardly set the record straight:

He is the hulking 176lb "Bane".

First it was the hulking 200 lb. Hardly Bane. Then 190 lbs. Now it's fucking 176?!? Cripes, at this rate, he'll weigh the same as me by this time next month! Good night, Hardly is going to make us look back on Jeep Swenson with affection and nostalgia.

So shooting's finished up on TDKRises? Frankly, I'm kind of curious as to how this is going to get promoted. Bane, it seems, is the money here. The Big Bad. But it'll be kind of hard to sell him as such when the motherfucker weighs 176 lbs (really? Is WB SURE this time?). I'm not too impressed with what we've seen of the Catwoman suit (holy shit, talk about keeping that one on lockdown; we saw ONE PIC officially and that's IT) and... honestly, I gave up on this movie long ago.

But the marketing of it... yeah, I'm kind of wondering how that'll play out.

Actually, I was mistaken. He IS the "Hulking, 190lb "Bane".

I mixed up how much he said he weighed for "Warrior", and the whopping 11lbs he gained for 'TDKR'........

What difference will it make? Unless Nolan pulls the proverbial rabbit out of the hat for TDKR, I smell EPIC. FAIL. It's really gonna be interesting to see an updated trailer now. I just wonder what that 6-minute prologue is gonna consist of at IMAX when it's paired with the next Mission Impossible film. The one for TDK was pretty good but this? Let's just hope Nolan saves face somehow.

Of course production isn't over yet. Filming is done. Which now moves to post work. With maybe some reshoots if needed. We will see. I too can't wait to see what next trailer shows.

Let's hope it shows THE HULKING 190-LB. BANE ripping it up & tearing through Gotham City, destroying it with his bare hands as I think we've been led to believe.

Yeah, this should be interesting indeed! Suspect

I think the only thing left to be done from here is the editing booth and even though it maybe a long shot but this will be the part where they put in the CGI enhancements thats if of course if the film requires any!

Ya I know that I ust throw in possible reshoots if needed. Most films do end up having some reshoots. So maybe nolan could have some for the film if once they start editing if he thinks they need more to fill action/story.

Certainly not me. I have over 100 of them myself & I mean TOP films like the following franchises: STAR WARS, JAMES BOND, etc., yes, even including SUPERMAN & BATMAN. I also have many 'stand-alone' films such as the following classics: WIZARD OF OZ, BEN-HUR, TEN COMMANDMENTS, GONE WITH THE WIND, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, etc., etc. Also some 'regular' theater movies from the 80's & such. And I have more Beta tapes & VHS than I do laserdiscs! However, the laserdiscs seem to have the 'cream of the crop' as far as classic films go. Many of the Betas are lower-quality 80's films, including the 'teen comedies' & horror films. And sure, I may have spent a lot of money but not as much as you might think. Actually before duh economy sucked I was collecting these things but I was getting them at flea markets, yard sales, & even eBay & sometimes dirt-cheap. For example, those classic films on laserdisc, I got over 30 of them and a 'digital' laserdisc player for a little over 100 bucks. I just had to get some minor repairs on the player at a TV repair shop & it still plays. I've used it in the past 2 months & it played fine. Actually I have more stuff than I even know what to do with. I guess it's one reason I never make any headway getting anything watched, besides working or being online.

Actually I made the joke about Nolan because Color's comment made Nolan sound 'retro' as in 'analog' so thus my little remark about TDKR being released on Beta & such. Actually I know DVD is better quality (100's of them as well) but I guess I'm 'old school' as well. I can tell you this. VINYL sounds better than digital, including CDs IMHO. I'm sure many would agree with that. I've noticed this myself by listening to the same album in both formats & get this, I don't even have a good sound system for my old turntable stereo, yet I still noticed the difference.

I actually remember having quite a few as a kid. 'Rocky III', 'Superman The Movie', 'Superman II', 'ET', 'Raider of the Lost Ark', 'Star Wars' and the like. I even remember some of them being 2 discs each, because the movies were just too long for one.

Good times.

Me neither! I thought they would be about the same size as CD's but thats coming from someone who only heard about laserdiscs rather than seeing them in person let alone own any of them, hell I use to question if whether or not they existed! All I acknowledge back in those days were Betamax tapes, VHS tapes, Phonograph records, Compact cassettes and 8-track tapes (Those I only knew for a short period of time).

Laserdisk was a niche format for collectors and cinephiles. It wasn't really for the common man so much. As a matter of fact, DVD was originally intended to replace laserdisk. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that it replaced VHS and laserdisk though simply because the public was ready for something new. In fact, I've often wondered if the public is ready for something new now. I've doubted they are. Studios are pushing Blu-Ray but I know a hell of a lot of people who don't see as clear a quality upgrade between DVD and Blu-Ray as was apparent between VHS and DVD.

And I'm kinda one of them, actually. Yeah, you can't argue the superiority of the Blu-Ray spec but, at the end of the day, I've invested a decent amount of money in my DVD collection (such as it is) and don't think I need to switch formats. At this point, the only thing that could make me switch over to Blu-Ray is maybe -- MAYBE -- a release of all six Star Wars movies in their original theatrical cuts. But even that's 50/50. Certainly those new Star Wars Blu-Rays aren't going to do the job.

But anywho, laserdisk was comparable to a vinyl record in terms of physical size.

So another words, laserdics are kind of like vinyl records in terms of size except there colorless, design to display movies and there only available as collectables.

Now I see!!!

Well thanks for info on laserdisc.

Nolan talking about the film in empire magazine:
http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=32527
Christopher Nolan Talks About The Prologue & More!

"Our story picks up EIGHT years after The Dark Knight".
"The Prologue is basically the first six, seven minutes of the film. Its the introduction to Bane and a taste of the rest of the film. With Bane we are looking to give Batman a physical challenge that he hasn't had before. In terms of finishing our story and increasing its scope, we were trying to craft an epic"
"It's really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne's story. We left him in a very precarious place. Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after The Dark Knight. So he's an older Bruce Wayne; he's not in a great state.

"The world of Batman, indeed the world of all graphic novels, deals with archetypes," he says, "And there's a very real sense in which The Joker is an extreme and an absolute and Batman is an extreme and an absolute. So whe you're looking to continue the story - in this case finish Bruce Wayne and Batman's story, as we see it - then you certainly don't want a watered-down version of a character you've already done. You want a different archetype. What Bane represents in the comics is the ultimate physical villain."

Lindy Hemming Gives Details On Bane's Mask

THE BREATHING MECHINISM: "He was injured early in his story. Hes suffering from pain and he needs gas to survive. He cannot survive the pain without the mask. The pipes from the mask go back along his jawline and feed into the thing at the back where there are two cannisters of what ever it is..the anasthetic"

UPDATE

Tom Hardy On Bane

"He's brutal. Brutal. He's a big dude who's incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It's not about fighting. It's about carnage. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it's nasty. Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. He is a terrorist in mentality as well as brutal action."

Didnt expect the film to be talking place at this point.

Wow, eight years later. I think I was one of many who assumed the movie would pick up a few months or at most a year or two after TDK.

Hardly Bane is 190 pounds, he's in constant pain and he needs the gas as an anesthetic. Yep, oh yeah, that sounds JUST like Bane from the comics...

I thought it immediately followed too. So what then? Has Batman 'been in hiding' for 8 years?! Does that explain the 'ski-mask' when he's visiting Gordon in the hospital? And look at this excerpt about Bane:

Tom Hardy On Bane

"He's brutal. Brutal. He's a big dude who's incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It's not about fighting. It's about carnage. Now those statements I put in bold I wanna ask Nolan just how is he gonna convince me, the viewer, of that 'fact'?! Suspect
