Transformers Franchise
Saw it last night (in plain ol' 2D because 3D freakin sucks). If you liked the previous two movies, the third one is pretty much in line with them.
I remember some fucktard from Eyes Skyward lost his shit over Transformers 2 because "it's just a brainless action movie". Well, no shit! It's an adaptation of a line of toys designed to sell themselves (directed by Michael Bay, no less). The cartoon was little more than a toy commercial (let's face it) and the movies aren't much more than that either. You have to go into these things with your eyes open.
Don't be a douchetard like that guy. Know what you're getting yourself into first.
Anyway. Fun time at the movies, if you ask me.

I too saw the film last night. I enjoyed it. For what itt is a mindless action film. Sfx whhere good, and some stupid humor moments.

How was the film without Megan Fox? An improvement or not? And was the new hot chick any good?

Given that I regard Megan Fox as a cancer upon society, no, I didn't miss her. And yes, her replacement was an improvement.non_amos wrote:How was the film without Megan Fox? An improvement or not? And was the new hot chick any good?
Of course, I never really bought a dude like Shia with someone like Fox so that model chick wasn't much more believable. So there you go.
But it's a fun, mindless, action movie franchise. It delivers the goods on those terms... which is what I want from a Transformers movie.

Re: Transformers Franchise
One thing though. Didn't Fox get 'fired' by Michael Bay in so many words for talking trash about him all the time being a 'dictator' or something?
Maybe Megan Fox needs to say hello to Richard Donner!

Re: Transformers Franchise
Oh, is that what happened? I don't keep up with too many franchises apart from obvious stuff like Superman and, loosely, two or three others.non_amos wrote:One thing though. If that's what happened, good fucking riddance.
In fact, word 'round the water cooler is that George Lucas was this close to shit-canning Natalie Portman from Episode III... and the only reason he didn't was because Keira Knightley wasn't available to take her place... but if she had been, Portman would've been history. Apparently she was a raging turbo bitch through a good bit of the ROTS shoot.
Indeed.Maybe Megan Fox needs to say hello to Richard Donner!

She called him Hitler, actually. Smart thing to do when Steven "Schindler's List" Spielberg is your producer, huh?
Oh, and SS is the one who booted her ass.

Re: Transformers Franchise
Shia LaBeouf out, Jason Statham in?? Yes please!
http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=48390
I have been pretty "Meh, it's okay..." with 2 out of the 3 'Transformer' movies. But you throw a bad-ass like Statham in there, and I will be PSYCHED.
http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=48390
Showblitz report that Paramount and Hasbro (who we have already discovered are considering more Transformers movies) are now considering shooting fourth and fifth movies back-to-back with "active discussions" said to be taking place. Sources close to the site have informed them that it's likely two films will be produced at the same time due to the massive savings this ensures the studio. Screenwriter Ehren Kruger reportedly has an well liked idea for the two future installments, but they do NOT include Shia LaBeouf, who’s says he’s moving on, with other close sources indicating that it'll be Jason Statham who takes over. And what of director Michael Bay? Well, he's interested in returning to direct, but that may mean Paramount will have to wait for him to finish work on Pain and Gain first. He will however return as executive producer alongside Steven Spielberg.

Re: Transformers Franchise
Apart from penile envy, I really don't understand why so many people (esp Apologists) hate on the Transformers movies. They're fun action movies designed to tell sell toys and video games. In that respect, they're pretty much like the original cartoon show.
So more of that? Hey, sounds good to me, esp if Statham is in it.
Come to think of it, he's gotta be close to Expendables-material by now.

Except the second one. That one sucked.

Indeed. An ass-kicker like Statham is far more "believable" duking it out with the Decepticons than a dweeby Shia LaBeef.

I'm going to assume this was a slip-up, and that you DIDN'T forget that he was in the first one.....

That's also why I didn't like it.

Re: Transformers Franchise
Statham "denies" rumor. But not really:

Typical HollyWeird double-speak.

"You know, I don't know how those things start. You read them. Someone told me about it. [But] the internet is a dangerous place," he laughed. "There's a lot of stuff out there."
"I've got a lot of stuff in front of me, but Michael Bay is a talented man. This last one just made a billion dollars around the world, so people like his films. He's a talented man."
Typical HollyWeird double-speak.

Re: Transformers Franchise
Heh, it's funny how the movie industry is similar to politics in this regard.
Even so, you gotta wonder why more actors don't take a "sorry but I don't talk about RUMORS" line.
Neither confirm, deny nor discuss.
But hey, it's not like anybody's paying me tens of millions to be an actor so what do I know?
All that bullshit aside, I WANT this to happen. Statham is an action star, maybe THE action star of the modern era (it could've been the Rock if he bothered to give a shit) and I'd love for him to do a movie with Bay, THE action director of the modern era. And if it happens to be Transformers, well, so much the better, as far as I'm concerned.

His response is basically this:
"Umm, someone leaked this too early. We aren't quite ready to make this public just yet. So, umm, those people on the interwebs, huh? What'reyagonnado?"
And "The Rock" saw the $$$, and went for it. Too bad too, because even ol' Arnold himself thought he had what it took.

Good points, all. I just remember watching The Rundown and thinking Arnold could hardly have passed the baton to a better replacement as action star of his day.Apologist Puncher wrote:"Umm, someone leaked this too early.
