Auroa CO Shooting Empty Auroa CO Shooting

Post  webhead2006 Fri Jul 20, 2012 4:13 pm

I didn't hear about it to late this morning on break from work. A very sad and tragic thing for all the family/friends of folks wounded and killed. I was very shocked to hear of it happening and since I got home from work learning more details. Rip for all affected and I hope they all get the justice they deserve.

Nolan comments on the shooting:
Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of "The Dark Knight Rises", I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families.

It's sad and sickening. I feel for the families who lost loved one's to one cowardly piece of shit's "act".

Fuck him.

But it ALSO pisses me off that I have read ignorant, tiny-nutted BITCHES trying to turn this into a "Oh, it's a MARVEL FAN trying to keep 'Rises' from breaking 'The Avengers' record!!" diatribe. These sick fucks have actually SAID THIS. And guess what, you tiny-brained animals?

HE WAS OBSESSED WITH NOLAN'S BAT-FILM'S.

I hope every single person who even THOUGHT this feels like the scum they truly are. You don't twist 12 dead bodies to fit your "agenda".

Oh how I wish I could repeat this very thing to certain media outlets.

Condolences to the victims' friends and families; anything else you want to put on the other side of that should wait until the fucking trial.

We all know how this particular debacle is going to go too -- everyone reading for the news media blaming the film and claiming the killer was inspired by the movie and calling for less violence in films and television? Everyone ready for unecessary apologies from Warner Bros in co, perhaps the film to be withdrawn and re-edited with less violence? And in an election year, no less, so everyone ready for this to go on in the news until November, at least? Ready for movie theatres to become like airports? And ready for NO ONE, to step forward and suggest that the fault lies not in the filmmakers, or the fans, but in one crazed ex-med student who realized that a packed movie theatre was just a good opportunity to kill the most people? It was him. Just him.

Oh, they'll step-forward alright. That much I KNOW.

But they will be drowned out by the weak-kneed fear mongers in our media, and their various puppet "experts".

I was going to post on another thread but then I thought that I'd better see if there was already a thread. I too am appalled by this news! Unfortunately I'm back on 3rd shift & didn't find out until this morning. There's probably no sense posting an entire article now since all are no doubt informed but I did find this to be of a concern:

http://www.rr.com/news/topic/article/rr/55255105/72145475/12_killed_59_wounded_in_Colo_theater_shooting

In New York City, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said: "It clearly looks like a deranged individual. He has his hair painted red. He said he was the Joker, obviously the enemy of Batman."

Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates would not confirm that information, but did say he had spoken to Kelly. The two used to work together in New York. Asked whether Holmes had makeup to look like the Joker, Oates said: "That to my knowledge is not true."

The Joker has green hair but that's not important right now. Sad

Heard the news on Yahoo! News, Comicbookmovie.com and follow the whole story on 20/20. It turns out that the shooting suspect James Holmes was another case of lashing out at society when things gone downhill. I don't see why other people have to suffer just because one's own lifestyle went down the crapper as those as if one person is miserable then everybody else has to be! And why all this have to take place at a local cineplex?

Imagaine how all this drama is going to effect TDKR!

It it bad when they blame a movie/tv/music for bad people actions. When the truth is its probably in most caes not that and there is just something wrong with the peopple ie drugs, or a mental breakdown and all that. Again very sad and terrible thing and hopefully all the families get the justice.

Oldman and bale issue statements on the shooting:

TDKR: Christian Bale And Gary Oldman Issue Statements About The Shooting In Colorado

Following the touching statement released by The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan last night, stars Christian Bale and Gary Oldman have now chimed in with their thoughts on the tragic shooting spree which took place in Aurora,Colorado. Josh Wilding - 7/21/2012

By now, you're bound to know about the shocking deaths of 12 people which were a result of gunman James Holmes (reportedly referring to himself as The Joker) opening fire in a packed out theatre during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado. Following the release of a statement by director Christopher Nolan yesterday evening (read that by clicking HERE) stars Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman) and Gary Oldman (Commissioner Jim Gordon) have now shared their own thoughts on the incident.

"Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them." [Christian Bale]

The statement from Oldman was actually released online yesterday, but missed due to the overwhelming amount of media coverage focusing on the events surrounding the shooting itself. All future cast and crew appearances have been cancelled by Warner Bros., so this may be all we hear from the actors on the matter.

"My prayers and deepest sympathies are with the victims and their families of this horrific act." [Gary Oldman]

As awful as this shooting was, don't let it stop you from enjoying The Dark Knight Rises this weekend. The film is absolutely incredible and you can read my 5* review by clicking HERE. Warner Bros.' reaction has been met with a mixed response, as some believe that the decision to cancel premieres and withhold box office figures is allowing the gunman to "win", while others view it as a mark of respect. Regardless, our thoughts go out to all of those affected by the tragedy, and we wish the injured (reported to be 38 in total) a speedy recovery.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=64473

The Denver Post reports that Christian Bale has visited the victims of Thursday night's shooting at the Medical Center of Aurora in Colorado. This was confirmed by an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications. "Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers." While petitions were started to get the actor to do this (some rather tastelessly suggesting that he appear in full costume as Batman), the fact he has done so of his own accord and without any photo opportunities is a VERY cool move on the actors part. Hospital personnel have apparently been overheard saying he was talking to patients. Earlier this week, Bale released a statement expressing his sympathies to those affected by the tragedy. "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."

It says a lot that he did this without making it about free PR for himself.

Some people were demanding he show up in costume and in character. I thought that was unreasonable then; nothing's changed. It's cool of him to do this. He has a movie to promote, probably a full dance card for interviews, junkets, freebies, media appearances and other shit. This little stunt? Above and beyond the call of duty. Shows real class on his part. Good job, Mr. Bale. Kudos!

Has anybody considered that maybe he wanted to see the movie and fight back if another lunatic came knocking? If he broke laws by carrying that stuff around, whatever, but he didn't necessarily have some kind of violent intent.

I heard a guy at work say he went to see the movie the Saturday night after it opened. He said something about joking with the theater attendants when he was buying his tickets like, did he need to bring his gun with him, i.e., due to the incident but the theater people didn't take it as a joke. He got 'eyeballed' even by the cops on duty there. Even if he meant for his own protection, it was no laughing matter to them. If he had a sick sense of humor though, shame on him! Sure ain't something to callously joke about that's for certain.
