Avengers Sequel Sets Emily Blunt And Ruth Wilson To Fight For Ms. Marvel
Written on October 7, 2012 by Brendon Connelly in Film, Recent Updates
Typically, film news from The Daily Mail comes via their showbiz schmoozer, Baz Bamigboye. And typically, he’s right about things.
Today, though, they’ve got something from the anonymous Mail on Sunday Reporter. I can’t guess what this does to the level of credibility.
But, in short, they believe that Marvel and Joss Whedon are looking at actresses for the role of Ms. Marvel in the upcoming Avengers sequel.
There are two candidates for the role named, said to be “head to head.”
On the one hand, there’s the original Black Widow, Emily Blunt; on the other, there’s Luther‘s Ruth Wilson who has the female lead in The Lone Ranger. Here they are, in ascending size of head.
If you don’t recall, Blunt was the original actress cast as Black Widow for Iron Man. It didn’t happen as Fox exercised an option they had made with her around The Devil Wears Prada and tied her into Gulliver’s Travels.
The second Avengers film is set for release in May 2015. According to this new report, it will start production next year – this would give Whedon and co. considerably more time than last time around. Perhaps this is a minor red flag against the Daily Mail’s claim, perhaps it’s cause for a little toast.
Give me Emily Blunt all day every day. Beautiful woman.

Not bad choices for ms. Marvel if she makes it into the film. And hasn't blunt been rumored/been up for multiple roles in past marvel studios films. So be great if she finally lands role.

Re: 'Avengers 2' News Thread
You guys hear that ol' BS is throwing "Quicksilver" in 'DOFP' just to spite Marvel Studios?

Class act, that Singer....
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=80490
Last week, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer announced via Twitter the inclusion of the mutant Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters, one week after the character and his sister, Scarlet Witch, were confirmed to join The Avengers sequel. While the last-minute cast addition was said to spite Marvel Studios and assert Fox Studios' partial ownership of the character, The Avengers director Joss Whedon reconfirms that plans have not changed on his and Marvel Studios' end.
"And so continues the Q and not-A…," Joss Whedon joked after being asked about the Quicksilver character rights dilemma during a Q&A which followed a special Much Ado About Nothing screening. He added, "That's not something I can really talk about, but Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are going to be in the movie and they're going to be AWESOME." So, there you have it; we can still look forward to Pietro and Wanda Maximoff assembling with Earth's Mightiest Heroes in 2015, after Pietro unites briefly with the X-Men next year. On a different note, Whedon was also asked of any Marvel character he wishes he could "do." "If I could get my hands on absolutely anybody it would be Batman. (audience applause) He's a Marvel character in the DC universe. And if I could 'do' any, probably Thor, because face it, those arms… (laughs)"

01- Bryan Singer is an asshole. But we all knew that already, didn't we? Still, what a dick move.
02- Once you get past the completely fictional city, the lack of a Marvel-style "flaw" and the fact that he's practically freakin invincible, yeah, I guess Batman is a "Marvel character".
03- Actually, no he's not, Batman's a DC character and he's better than any Marvel character. Yeah, I know the Marvel zombies have penile envy over Batman. Life sucks, get a helmet.

Re: 'Avengers 2' News Thread
I'm not on the site right now but over at SHH Joss Whedon was asked about this very thing & what he's gonna do? He sounded like there was a 'working relationship' or something. An agreement, whatever. Maybe I'll pull up the link when I have more time but you know good & well that Whedon will cast who he wants to & so will Bryan Singerman so how will they justify this?
EDIT TO ADD: Actually Singer has already cast some young douchebag whose name I don't remember without checking out the article. But will Whedon use the same guy? Doubtful.

I think it's a mark of how seriously fans are taking the WF/MOS II/Superman-Batman news that I've only just heard about this.

Let's see:
Vs.
Now, neither is close to being exactly like the comic character, but I think it's pretty obvious who got the best out of THAT deal....

Re: 'Avengers 2' News Thread
Makes me wonder if Singer will get the details right. I've never cared about Quicksilver but I thought he was nowhere near, say, the Flash's level. Quicksilver's top speed is supposed to be somewhere around 30 mph. And that's HUGE on a relative scale, sure, but I wonder if Singer realizes that or if he'll portray Quicksilver as a speedster on the Flash's power level.

Dude. Does this even NEED to be asked?
The Blue Bulk? Singerman? Storm? Toad?
The guy couldn't give half a shit about being accurate. I mean, just LOOK at his "Quicksilver"!

If this Quicksilver got rid of the eyeliner, stubble, and had his hair slicked back, I'd be all for the look. As it is, he's only marginally better than Singer's glam rock variation. Maybe it's because he reminds me too much of a hobo that always passes by my work. I hope this is just what he looks like before he officially joins The Avengers and has a more refined look.

Yes, because he has been a superhero as long as Iron Man or Captain America in this film.
Right?

You've gotta be fucking kidding me with this bullshit....

Go watch 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' to see why he looks the way he does. Then try to explain Singer's latest abomination.
If you can.

I'm planning on seeing THE WINTER SOLDIER tomorrow. I had no idea Quicksilver has an appearance in it. As for Singer's abomination, I'm sure someone can try explaining it, but I doubt that explanation can justify that horrid look.

That last statement could just as easily be applied to Singerman without changing a thing.James Stocks wrote:I'm planning on seeing THE WINTER SOLDIER tomorrow.
